Re: Do you believe in magickal life extension?
It is a common argument that if pepole did not age and die then we would get over populated, but think about it, that is assuming that we keep breeding in the same rate as we do now, that people's behavior and mind set would stay the same even if one had hundreds or thousands of years to live. However consider this, for women to have healthy children it is recommended that she get them before she is 35 years old, at least before 40. If there was no such limitations many would wait with children indefinitely. Also without aging there would not be the need to attain a sort of immortality through a line of descendants. Also if we look at nature, long lived species have fewer children than short lived ones. I think that if there was no more aging, then the rate of birth would go drastically down.
Also most nations in the West is not over populated. In most Western nations the average is a little over 2 children per women which is only slightly above sustainable rate, and while the population grows, it grows slowly. However in Africa the rate of birth is on average on over 6 children per woman, and if you look at the world at large, it is in Africa and other development countries that most of the over population takes place. However we also see that when pepole get education then the rate of birth go down, so hopefully eventually it will go down in the development countries as well.
I always get a bit annoyed when pepole say oh but your life on Earth was not meant to last forever. I usually say, how do you know? How do you know that it was not meant to and then a genetic fluke somewhere along the way during the development of life on Earth introduced aging? I think that my body, mind and soul is of equal measure and I would like to keep them together for as long as I can, forever preferably.

Re: Do you believe in magickal life extension?
I understand your point. I think if you want to live forever, you should. I'm not saying I couldn't, I just wonder after maybe 500 years I might get bored. OR maybe not.
I agree that the birth rate would drop dramatically. Personally, I feel that ageing was not originally a natural human cycle. I'm sure there's a lot of scientific evidence to counter that point, probably, but if my understanding of reality is correct, that evidence means little more than nothing.
I do however wonder that your need to extend your life manifests from a place of fear, a fear of death specifically?

Re: Do you believe in magickal life extension?
I am thinking that there are so many things to learn in the world that I would not get bored for a very long time.
First of all it is healthy to fear death it is a part of every living thing as a part of our instinct for survival, and I have no desire to die. But my desire to live forever comes from two things, one is that there is far to many things to do and learn to just have 90 years plus minus, I would like to be able to use 300 years just to study the intricacies of one particularly interesting painting if I so choose, to be able to live fully without a deadline over my head. The other reason is my belief that the body, mind and soul together form an entity which are worth preserving, yes part of this entity survive death, but together it is a unique blend which will never be the same again. If you want to call that a fear of death, I can live with that. I however see it as preserving something unique and wonderful which will only be created exactly like that once.

Re: Do you believe in magickal life extension?
You misunderstood, I was not labelling anything. I was just curious.
In essence, I view time as a part of freedom. The more time you have, the more freedom you have. I hate the feeling of being rushed and I am more of a person who would like to live in the moment, in the now instead of having to plan ahead. So yes, If I lived forever there would be no need to plan ahead.
But I guess I wont have to.

Well plans is always useful, however with eternal life one is not limited.
But I guess I wont have to.
Good attitude.

Re: Do you believe in magickal life extension?
Kabbalists do believe in immortality. I know that if one takes care of one's health, and performs magick headed towards protection and health, it would definitely extend their life span or prevent it from getting shorter.
I also read people are too death conscious, and it's one of the reasons why people die. I read people basically tell themselves they're gonna die and it sends a negative message to all cells of their body. Make of that what you will...

Re: Do you believe in magickal life extension?
Immortally is more of a curse than a blessing really, and if you look like a 30 yr old at 80+ years old then I would say go ahead but not when you look like the back end of a bus.

Re: Do you believe in magickal life extension?
nice topic.
Immortality in physical body is something that many dream of, just because they're scared of death, lol.
My opinion is that death was just programmed onto our genes, and since everybody goes with the flow of life and believe they will die, then there we go, hitting the bucket. Thing is that the programming is made on a subconscious level so unless you become much more aware, you can't do much about it, even with all the good auto-suggestions.
From what i experienced lately, i realized 3 states of being. The so called normal state, the dream state and recently a new state of awareness when i felt much more alive, very light like the body was no more (even though i could see it), vibrating with energy, fully aware and yet not thinking. I just knew that i am there. The moment the thinking came back, the vibrating feeling grew weaker and weaker. In that awareness state there are no concepts, there is no fear, no death, just a deep peace and ease which i fully felt, without needing to think about it. So probably that is what happens after one dies, goes beyond form and thought form :p
So, if you can reach that state more often (like ... every moment of this earthly existence), probably then you will realize there's no actual death except the dissolving of the physical body and of the regular mind.
Between the normal state and that awareness state, i would always go for the second, even though my mind doesn't quite like the idea :p

Ageing is just a slow death.

Re: Do you believe in magickal life extension?
Hello,
May be not due to magic exactly, but rather spiritual, occult practices could make one immortal.
If you read the Bible, and Sitchin, the idea of immortality comes from the fact that in the past Man lived differently than today - and also 800 + years of life in Biblical times is almost immortal today
Yaga practice and meditation, ascetic life, could make you immortal in a way of falling into slumber for long periods of time, the spirit/soul lives the body, living it in hibernation for hundreds of years at a time, the spirit returns at will.
Occultlly speaking if the disciple is living according to the law and is developing along the path, and is following the initiations in order, his/her life is extended for longer periods of time, for with high spirits comes perfect health, although the disciple him/herself is prone to various common health problems, depending on the ray he/she is on at any particular incarnation and as a soul etc.
If the writings of Toth the Atlantian are take into account then, immortality of the body is very much possible, though daily meditation, in orientation to the N/S axis.
Merkaba teachings not only via Toth, but understanding of the light body as a whole, means, that at one point a person could, materialize and dematerialize his/her body to be able to move from one plane of existence to another, which automatically gives immortality.
The move light coming down to a soul, the further along the path it is, the younger the person looks, than to his/her age.

Re: Do you believe in magickal life extension?
New member here,
Personally, I think that since all of us have chosen a particularly different life path we share a common or similarly common goal. Gaining immortality would only prolong our time experiencing this life and never enlightening ourselves to more spiritual planes. I would prefer to move on and constantly grow. Immortality would be like a curse.
