Necronomicon users: demonstrate the power!
Original post: Fireclown
I hear all kinds of impressive things due to the simplest and often accidental use of the Necronomicon Spellbook, a book of simple prayers any child could use (and often do... and then come back crying warning everyone not to play with the book and take it seriously). For those of you who've dared to use this book and consider the Necronomicon your particular thing, especially those of you with a left-hand path bent... do the world a favor: put the biggest fuckin' hex on Bill O'Reilly you can. In fact, I'd like to see him drop dead right on live TV.
Preferably within one week from today.
Of all the magic out there, I have faith that the Necronomicon can achieve this larger-than-life demonstration of real magic. It was the only book that ever turned my life upside-down without even trying and the only book I still don't have on my bookshelf some 20 years later (and I pretty much have everything else, "evil" or not).
This man needs to die soon. Thank you!

That sounds like an interesting challenge, of sorts. I do wonder if either my friend Zahgurim or Suhgurim would find this particular job appealing. Probably not... they both seem to despise getting involved in anything political.

Consider it or give it a shot... it's all I ask. I would imagine anyone who owns a Necronomicon must wish the guy dead as much as anyone. After him, I suggest the next target be Karl Rove. That should do some major damage.

It seems to me that if someone were truly in touch with the ancient evil of the necronomicon they would already be a republican. U may well be seeing the effects of the power of the dark book personified in the authority of Bill and Karl.

If it was only a question of morality. If you direct me to act do you not take blame for my actions? Am I blameless because I acted for you?
No, if a stained hand directs a pure heart then a veil winnows its way within.
That said it can be done.

If you have these kinds of concerns, you obviously have no interest in pursuing the Bill O'Reilly hex. BTW, it is very easy to purify karma from killing, according to at least one well-respected lama. I'm not sure what your particular moral hang-ups are, but intent is everything.

I suppose it does not matter. There is some scumbag waiting to take his place, anyway. This thread was more of a joke than anything, but I was hoping someone who might be into this sort of thing might say, "HEY! Why didn't I ever think of that?!" and set about to a new career as a supernatural superhero. With all the occultists apparently in this world, I have to wonder occasionally why it seems to be going to hell in a handbasket.

Because even if you can be "purified" just knowing you've taken the life of another weighs heavily on the minds of many.
Especially if Old Papa Bear is a dick and haunts you.

Because? Why did you start your sentence with "Because...?" Nobody asked WHY and only WHY invokes BECAUSE.
I said that karma from killing is among the easiest to purify. It is the more subtle things that are more difficult to even notice, let alone purify. There is nothing to purify, anyway, ultimately (and that is an example of the more difficult kind of karma to purify, btw).

There are those of us - and we number in the millions - who do not believe in karma, or believe that it's a concept which does not apply to us. As someone who practices a Sumero-Babylonian based faith with some structure taken from the Necronomicon I find myself part of that cross-section of the earth's population.
If I were to kill it wouldn't have any effect on my karma because I'm not bound by anything that even remotely resembles karma. This is besides the point, I just wanted to point it out that whether it takes a few swipes with a dry cloth and some carnuba wax or two hours on the heavy wash cycle to cleanse your karma of murder, I'm not worried about it because it doesn't apply to me. My soul is spiffy because of idiosyncratic prophylactic measures I take regularly

That sad bastard is not even worthy of death by necronomicon hex. Switch the channel and your wish will come true. Bill O-Reilley and his network feed on ratings, low ratings = NO Bill O-Reilley.

Why do so many people say this book upsets their lives without even trying? I read this a few weeks ago, at work no less, and absolutely nothing has gone awry anywhere in my life. But if I take your ranting about Bill O'Reilly under consideration, I can probably deduce my answer.Occultforums.com Archive wrote:Original post: Fireclown

Well, a LOT of problems arise, when it is "used" or even just read/possessed by people who a) have a lot of larvae in their mental sphere and are easily influenced by this; and/or b) who have a inherent "trigger" to think of all those Lovecraft-inspired gore flicks they once saw, when they hear "Necronomicon" (actually this is a part of a, but whatever).
So basically it is their own mind and their own fear playing "tricks" on them.
I try to forget about all things Lovecraft when working with the Nec. I am still at the beginning but so far I had no disaster. Quite the opposite actually. Some elements (like the Watcher) still keep me (or rather my subconscious) still on the side mentioned before, but this is just a state of mind which sometimes lurks though the back door.
In the beginning I even was a bit nervous to use the spellbook, but now while I do not have so much opportunity as I which I had, I just have enormous joy with this simplified ceremony.
Yes, I just wrote "enormous joy". It is a bit like being the priest in a catholic church...not so much pomp in my case of course and no guys hanging from crosses, but there is incense, somehow really pleasant and mystical looking symbols, you can add a nice robe and have a invocation formula which can get you out of "reality" really good (not as good as the Ishtar apple spell kicked me one time though - that was nearly like drugs) As Simon says: You become your own priest or priestess. Just messing around with Marduk and his "crew" for silly or outright evil purposes is a idea, that *will* backfire on you.

I suppose it must be at least partly, if not entirely, down to the users expectations and desires, these things can heavily influence the outcome of any magickal work. If you make the act of reading the book a magickal one in and of itself, then it's possible you could manifest these things.
However, I would say that it is by no means the book itself which is causing the manifestations, although to some extent it may have a degree of inherant power from the attribution of power to it by the collective of its users, but ultimately, I would say it's the user who is allowing these things to manifest.
My 2 cents ^_^
