From what I can gather the thought-forms created by other paths of Magick seem to be little more then the psychic energy of the magickian manifested into reality through projection of will. If this is the case then it would be a form of Psionics, at least in part.
If the above assumption is correct, then has anyone in this board worked with such beings along the path of energy work?
If so, could you elaborate a bit into the how's & why's, and maybe a bit about the outcome?

i think the energy puts one into the feeling body (no thought) just observation or awareness,or vibration...that in turn creates an openess or opertunity for the wierdshit (energy,helpers,astral beings) to visit(this sounds so new age im going to shoot myself latter).
They came only once to me it was bizzare... a male voice and a female voice calling me by name TALKING IN MY LEFT EAR(Cosmic Brat and another guy that used to be here said the same thing... that is why i joined this forum)
The buddhist will tell you its just mindstuff...label it as such Otherworldly,Otherworldly and keep meditating kinda hard to do!

Yeah, I've been trying that for some time now, it works quite well. I concluded that this was the case following the same train of thought as you did and tried to use Psionics to create thoughtforms. It resembles the way you build energy balls(psiballs), it's just a bit more complex and adds a few elements used in ritual magick to the lot.
I thought that the common energy-ball we all use is just a very weak and short-term thoughtform. So, I went about creating the thoughtform by concentrating energy and expelling it out of my body, building a sort of energy construct that resembled a large energy-ball. As I did this, I tried to program the energy-ball, change it's shape accordingly, give it purpose and a solid existance, a certain feel. As you keep building it and refining it's essence, after a point it will start to feel as though the energy ball is not just an accumulation of energy but it will begin to hint slight sentience/self-cohesiveness(it's the best way I can describe it, like the energy ball is no longer just an extention of yourself but semi-independent). When you consider you have given it enough shape and purpose in order for it to work, you just reinforce it's shell and let it go. I can reach out to mine whenever after that, by reaching a lucid semi-asleep state through meditation and they seem to respond quite well to very basic communication, like very simple servitors. I also usually imprint the energy-ball/thoughtform with a sigil upon it's creation as well, as a means of making the thoughtform less generic and more self-aware. The sigil can also help you in maintaining your connection with it after letting it go.
I've only used it so far to create semi-sentient spells(spell thoughtforms) but since it works I figure that you can use it for creating fully blown beings(like a servitor), it's just a matter of how far you want to go on making the thoughtform self-aware and giving it a more independant existance. The outcome is ultimately the same, it's just that other paths of Magick do this through more ritualistic methods while through Psionics you can achieve it by direct energy manipulation.
Just my thoughts and experimentations on the matter, I hope it all helps!
