Berkley Professor Alan Dundes Studies & O9A

Post by ReggieHopkins »

In "THE STUDY OF FOLKLORE", by University Of California at Berkley Professor Alan Dundes , the whole of Occult Esoterica would be classified under Folklore. Grimoires, & other texts though, would be considered literature. Apparently there used to be differences of opinion between the disciplines of History, Anthropology & Sociology with respect to how to approach & quantify the study of the magical realm. Currently they are downplaying any past disagreements. The wild card in the mix would be the profession of Journalism. They are supposed to delve into strictly in the who, what where, when, how & why. In reality they use the yardstick of 'If it bleeds, it leads'.

On 23 June 2020 the meticulously scrupulous BBC author Daniel De Simone had an article entitled "Order Of Nine Angles: What is this obscure Nazi Satanist Group". At best many in the public at large would deem 09A to be sophomoric & dangerously misguided. Were one in our own midst to pore over their materials, one suspects that there would be plenty of eye rolling at such turgid fare.

I doubt that any academic would put pen to paper to make any comparison, or draw any connection between the O9A & those who practice the time honored crafts discussed in this forum. One suspects that in time college level researchers will identify the pseudo-intellectual so-called author through a process of the comparison of the O9A material with the writings of the most likely suspects. There are assertions at some places in the internet that the Academics have already come to conclusions, yet in my opinion, this is but the flimsy gossamer of wishful thinking, or the delusions of a drug addled brain.

It's really too bad that a subject such as this needs to be broached in the first place
