Archangels of the Sephiroth

Post by FraterPurpura »

I've decided to post a guide to the archangels of the sephiroth as well as a few of their powers for any who are interested:

10.)MALKUTH
Sandalphon is the archangel of Malkuth. He is most often portrayed wearing brown robes and holding a cornucopia filled to the brim. He should be invoked to manifest things in the physical world, as well as to help ensure your magick brings no one any harm (yourself included!).

9.) YESOD
Gabriel is the archangel of Yesod. He wears purple robes and a silver band upon his head etched with with the likeness of a crescent moon. He is to be invoked for things such as: enhancing one's artistic inspiration, dream interpretation, bringing an atmosphere of peace, learning about the astral realm, and strengthening magick.

8.) HOD
Michael is the archangel of Hod. He is dressed with orange robes and holds a caduceus. He may be invoked to help one: express ideas in a more intelligent manner, protection during spellcraft, and making good financial decisions.

7.) NETZACH
Haniel is the archangel of Netzach. She wears aquamarine robes and is identified with the scent of roses. She may be invoked for: an increase of joy, enhancing passion, assistance in artistic endeavors, creating a pleasant environment, as well as making friends.

6.) TIFERET
Raphael is the archangel of Tiferet. He wears golden robes and armor emblazoned with the symbol of the sun. He may be invoked for: any type of healing (both physical and nonphysical), gaining popularity through talent, stability of any sort, improving vitality and stamina, and to gain victory over enemies.

5.) GEBURAH
Kamael is the archangel of Geburah. He wears red robes, crimson armor and helm, and wields a spear and shield. He may be invoked for: repelling negative energies and thoughts, bravery against adversity, shielding against malcontented people and situations, assistance in competition, and defense of one's home.

4.) CHESED
Tzadkiel is the archangel of Chesed. He wears blue robes and holds a regal scepter. He may be invoked for: prosperity in any form, increasing talent or skill of any sort, more ambition, luck in gambling, attaining inner harmony or joy, and the power to help others.

3.) BINAH
Tzaphkiel is the archangel of Binah. She wears black robes and holds an hour glass. She may be invoked for: binding enemies to prevent them doing harm, repel curses/negative energy, restful sleep, bringing justice to those who have wronged you, destroying the machinations of your enemies, banishing sickness/anxiety, and discovering secrets.

2.) CHOCKMAH
Raziel is the archangel of Chockmah. He wears grey robes and holds a colossal book. He may be invoked for: setting plans into motion, renewing your energy, freeing oneself in a situation they feel trapped in, increasing wisdom and insight in any subject, and strengthening divination.

1.) KETHER
Metatron is the archangel of Kether. He wears robes of clear light and sets upon a throne of brilliant light. He may be invoked for: breaking free from samsara, completing the Great Work, aligning universal and individual will, seeing through the "illusion of the material world," raising your spiritual state/vibrational rate to display more aspects of divinity in one's life.

This is by NO MEANS a comprehensive list. It's merely to give some quick insight into the archangels of the sephiroth and their abilities that may be relevant to a magician. This is absolutely an abridged list, because detailing the full extent and application of any single one of these angels, I imagine, would at least be double the length of this post.

Archangels are a rather religious format for investigating reality. Is there another gui (graphical user interface) to map intelligences connected to sephiroth?

This could also be an association of the four worlds.

Atziluth - the divine world(1). The primordial consciousness, or, God.

Beriah - the archangelic world(2 - 3). Secondary entities.

Yetzirah - the world of angels(4 - 9). Tertiary entities. Corresponding to the points of the hexagram with the Sun at center; same configuration as the Septenary Tree(Tree Of Wyrd).

Assiah - the material world(10). Humans; other entities. It can be noted here that the number '10' is a reflection of '1' with a '0' appended, thus 9 with the 10th being a reflection of the 1st...

As above so below.

I believe you meant 'Chokmah'.

Edit : actually there is a variation of "Chockmah" if you dig a little.

Since the ToL fits on to the human, is the human the representative of all the sephiroth?

I would say so. The 'archetypal' masculine AND feminine aspects. Although 'consciousness' is shared by both, so that would be the 'middle pillar'.

Yes, much in the same way chakras are found in specific locations in/around the body, so are the sephiroth.

Most likely there are many others. This just happens to be the one I'm familiar with. If it makes you feel any better, the names and appearances of these angels are determined by human perception. Ultimately, these "angels" are aspects of the primordial consciousness. Archangels are aspects of that same source, but they can have experience and understanding of more than just the sephirah they preside over and, therefore, can have "personalities" as a human would understand them. This is unlike lower angelic beings, who are purely and perfectly the embodiment of only a single aspect of "God." The angels are outward reflections of intelligences that also exist within the human brain. 72 (semi) independent intelligences in the conscious brain, 72 independent intelligences in the subconscious. The 72 angels and 72 demons of God. As above, so below.

In a general sort of way I often refer to them as just 'entities'. So how they are referred would be context dependent.

In essence what we are talking about here are 'entities' that came into existence and evolved along with the cosmos which is understood to be nearly fourteen billion years old with Earth being the most recent at almost five billion.

So the sephiroth represent eons of time(more or less) that can be visualized as concentric spheres expanding (roughly) at the speed of light from a primordial center.

Beyond the outermost sphere there is 'nothing', or, negative existence as the sephiroth themselves are the creation and expansion of space and time...

from the mind of the primordial forever emerging from the nothingness that is eternity.
