this maybe be a topic for another forum, but which do you think is the more powerful point in a chart, saturn or pluto? I have pluto in my first house conjunct my ascendant, and saturns in my third...

Heath Ledger is a perfect example of the tragic side of the Saturn Return.

Heath died at the age of 28 on January 22 just 12 days after his Saturn Return.

I would say that Saturn and Pluto have different "pulls". But since Pluto moves much slower than Saturn its effects are more generalized where Saturn's effects are much more personal.

I'm getting close to my saturn return. I had forgotten about the 29.5 year return, and it triggering midlife crisis's.

My Saturn is in Libra, in my sixth house, where my sun is in Cancer (just after the change), and my ascendant is in Taurus.

Just out of curiosity folks can things start shaking up early on this... Since I hit 27 I've had some stuff come up alot more internal conflict and life decisions I had to make... for what reason... I am still like "I know it was good for me but why did I do that?"

I believe the effects can be felt when you turn 27. It reminds me of a shakedown, getting focused on what is really important and cutting away the rest. It is important to come out of the Saturn Return with a purpose or cause, something that will become your adult goal. Others refuse to evolve at this point and suffer incredible setbacks until their Saturn comes back around (60's) which is when you are supposed to have completed or at least made considerable progress on that goal. Its funny that many retire after this return.

Yes. From what little I've seen, any time from 27 onwards to 30, although it of course will be reflected by what Saturn is doing in your own natal chart.

I think there can also be a long leadup to it in some cases. For me that whole particular apocalyptic spiral began in late 1999/2000, and only really ended around 12 months ago.

These days when people talk about the end of the world, I shrug. Been there, done that, got the t shirt. ;-)

The Saturn Return

Well, as Saturn takes aproximately 2 and 1/2 years to travel through a sign,it is a long process - the duration of effects of the return - a period of life changing direction ,it is an impetus point that we reach, with a slow gaining of awareness and new perspective,it felt to me like my life was crumbling but it needed to do so as it was necessary to cut away the dead wood for new growth to take it's place.Allegorically speaking.

The return starts when Saturn enters into the sign it was in when you were born.Like a conjunction effect it grows in strength as it approaches your degree placing, sits over itself[ so to speak, like a short standstill - the impetus point] and then it starts to 'wane' slowly,it 's immediate effects lessening off a bit at a time.

I think this is why some people ,feel it come on slowly or are not aware of change at first,if the degree is 'far' within the sign.... but others get a huge crisis/calamity - bang on.This would be if your degree is in the first 5 or so.My Saturn is 15 deg.Pisces,so I had a relatively even level of events/change.

I don't know if I explained that very well.I should check books.

Hello again Petrus.

I'm yet to meet someone who has had smooth sailing through their first Saturn return. But the lessons should be learned so that the next Saturn return in mid-50s is much more rewarding.

I do hope that holds true,Devyn,I don't think I 'd survive another hard time,lol.

I am Eretik in the preceding posts on this topic. It's strange seeing my self again,as I was then, lol.I'm now approaching 47 years old and my life is very settled now, compared to then.
I am also a bit surprised by how much I used to talk,I remember myself as relatively quiet back then, but I think I might have to review that notion or reread old posts more, lol.

Me too.
