A while back, I talked to myself until I fell under. Granted, I didn't AP, but I had lucid dreams every night for months doing it.
Another method is to clench a fist and hold it. Concentrate on keeping your fist clenched as you go.

last few days i have been inducing deep trance states by breathing;
i would lie on my bed and start to lower my breath: relaxing the chest and use the abdomen muscles to gently inhale &exhale. when doing i try to go lower, until my breath is controlled by the lower abdomen. when this goes easy the trance follows almost immediately, i can feel myself slip away nice and gently... sometimes i start to see images of scenery's and people (sort of spontane remote viewing?).
i didn't had an ap yet, but can get myself into sleep very easily now. that actually gives me good hope this will aid in astral projecting.

I keep getting a lifting sensation with the lower half of my body when I try to project... It travels up and everything seems to be lifting slightly (at an angle) but my head refuses to go with the rest of my body! Irritating!

I attempted to "roll out" of my body by leaning to the side where I was going to fall off the bed and out of my body. I was right on the edge of the roll and I suddenly got hit by a huge wave of fear. I feel back into my body and was unable to get back out the rest of the night. I didn't get out but I am incouraged that I am now very close.
Good work! Heh, as a side note, I tested the "roll out" a few days after I suggested it to you, and have to admit it is kind of freaky. There's a much bigger "Whoa!" feeling when you do it this way, like you just flew off a roller coaster. I was kind of shell-shocked after I did it and think I'll be sticking to the rope from now on.

Yea the roll out was kinda rough.
I have had interesting experences with the rope technique. I cannot seem to get it to work all by itself. The greatest success I have had so far was combining the rope until I lost it then try sway then rope again. Just going back and forth between the two. Now of course I tried again last night and had no success at all. Sigh... Oh well I will keep on keeping on. Eventually maybe I will have this down to a science and can pop out when ever I want to.
Side note: even when I fail and just go to bed I now have very vivid dreams. What I mean is I almost never remember my dreams but after an attempt the next day I will remember now. Odd...

I've been out of my body twice. The first one was I left my body and traveled through a tunnel that branched off into two. I took the left one and found myself in Hell. I talked with Satan and found out that he isn't the great evil, the enemy of God that the Bible talks about. Instead it is his job to watch over the punishments of those that deserve it and to test humanity. My second one was more earth bound. I was asleep and starting the journey to wakefullness when all of a sudden this eye with tentacles appeared and got right in my face. Now I was sleeping on my side at the time so I just drew back and I did a kind of somersault out of my body. I knew immediately what was going on, I was haveing an OOBE so I walked through my bedroom door and up the stairs and I just about made it out the front door when the experience ended. Since then I've been trying to get out again but no luck. Does anyone know what entity it might of been that caused my second experience? Oh another thing, after my first experience a few months later I was listening to Coast To Coast Am and heard this lady describe her NDE. She had just about the same experience as I did though when she came to the branch in the tunnel she took the right branch.

I finally astral projected for the first time last night!!!
Last night I was doing the rope technique and had been for about an hour. At some point I must have fallen asleep because I have a bit of a memory gap. The next thing I remember is feeling my body vibrate and hearing a noise that sounded like a large truck going down the street. I got excited at this point because I knew I had to be close. The vibration was odd and not like I had expected it to be. I have read about this before but I assumed that your entire body would vibrate together. Instead I felt like that thing on your stereo with each bar bouncing up and down seperatley. Anyways, as I said I started getting excited and then I heard the sound like a truck.
All of a sudden my feet flew up into the air and I was standing on my head. My head must have been inside the mattress or pillow or something because I couldn't see anything. I was flailing my arms about madly trying to grab something to pull me out of that position but I couldn't grab anything. I must have freaked myself out because the next thing I know I am back in my body. My body felt very weird once I was back inside. My insides were kind of warbling and it felt like I was floating in water. I tried to do it again but no such luck last night.
I am assuming that since I have done it once that now it will be easier the next time. I am looking forward to trying it again. Hopefully this time I won't muck it up and find myself upside down. Remembering the experence is kind of odd. It is kind of like remembering a dream except I know it wasn't a dream. I was fully awake and felt everything that happened. Very strange.
I just wanted to share. I was starting to think it would never be possible for me to AP but a little success makes me hungry for more.

I'm really happy for you, but I couldn't help but laugh at this picture. It's been a while since my first projection, but I'm pretty sure it was something similar to this - floudering about like a parched fish. Now that you've gotten out, you'll have to learn how to move all over again, but it's actually a pretty fun time. You'll accidentally shoot yourself into walls, and jump completely off the planet, but it's still a load of fun. I tend to just "blink" around nowadays, but I still enjoy a good fly-by of my hometown, Superman-style, every now and then. Be sure to keep us up-to-date, I'd like to know how you're progressing.

I think I ended upside down because of the direction I was pulling the rope. Had the rope parallel to my body instead of coming from above me. Think it made me pivit that way.
I am hoping now that I did it once that it will be much easier next time. I tried again last night but couldn't even get into the trance state. Hopefully over the next few weeks I will keep doing it and maybe I can not muck it up this time and hopefully stay out for a little while so I can explore. Also hope I will be able to see next time.
Thanks for all you help!!!

Uh... That sounds like so much fun... I'm thrilled for you, getting that far... I really wish I could do it! *cries* But my stupid head is still stuck. I've decided to start from scratch, with basic trance techniques... (Isn't there a 12-step plan somewhere for astral projection?

So, here's something that happened last night odd enough that I thought it was noteworthy.
I am not good at Astral Projection, I don't think I've ever done it though I have gotten through the process to a point just before projection, I think. But enough of that background. Last night, something was nagging on the back of my mind at about 2AM saying, "lay down, try to astral project.." So I did, and very quickly the pulsations began, I was seeing the pulsing grey clouds in my mind, but strangely they were different than usual. The pulses were coming faster than usual, and strangely, the grey mist was forming itself into "faces" that would only be ther for a fraction of a second and then vanish for the next pulse of greyness... THEN, and this is where it really went different than usual, suddenly all the grey came together and formed an arm that kind of reached down toward me. I don't mean a fuzzy arm, I mean, it was very clear, well designed, clothed what looked like flowing silk, tints of blue and pink, it was there for a second or two, and then vanished....and everything was black, the pulses were gone from my vision and there were what appeared to be blurry stars around(I wear glasses and am pretty blind, though i doubt this would effect me on the astral) Anyhow, my body felt all fuzzy...but everything stayed darker than I usually see it in my mind, and the grey foggy stuff wasn't around. Now, i know I didn't succeed in astral projecting, I kept trying for a while, but was unable to detach....the strangest thing was the feeling of being called to it before I even started.....I don't know, I thought it was noteworthy...any comments? Ideas?

How I ended up learning about Astral Projection was by mistake believe it or not like everything does with me, when something was about to happen in my life. A new found ability came into play which I found is called Astral Projection and now I can do it whenever I like too. I don't know why this would be but it's me and I have a lot of odd things happen to me.

Maybe I'm just an oddball but the times that I projected, I didn't have any trouble moving at all. Of course that might be due to the fact that I had lucid dreams almost all the time and I was able to move about ok in them. I'd like to have another projection. Maybe I'll do what v/s has suggested and see if I can have more lucid dreams or maybe another projection.

I got to that point as well Eden. I managed to lift my entire body, save for my neck and head from my physical being. It is frustrating. What's more, ever since then, I havn't been able to even stay awake/focus well enough to get vibrations or noise. Quite aggrivating.

You stated that you felt like the vibrations were the bars on a stereo, showing you the EQ of everything. It's great if you have varying pitches and strengths in music, but from what I understand, you need to EQ it out when you get vibrations, as in, you need to get them flowing with one another. It takes concentration, but hell, you've gotten this far!
Keep up the good work man and keep us posted!

I do not seem to have any control over the vibrations. The min after they start is when I suddenly find myself out of my body.

Just an update...
I am finding that control of astral projection is a lot harder than projecting in the first place. Since the first time I have been practicing but I have been getting mixed results. A lot of times I fall asleep as I am trying to project but I have been able to do it again a few times. The good news is instead of an hour like it was at first I can now do it in about 30 or 40 min's. The bad news is I am unable to stay out of my body more than a few seconds.
I project and have enough time to realize that I am projecting then I get yanked right back. It is kinda annoying. Any tips on how to stay out of my body longer or does it just take more practice?

again, by coming to terms with your body and focusing on every little sensation you'll have more control and more insight. You need to EQ the vibrations. I promise it will help. If it doesnt control your movement, it will help with your focus and calmness. It will do quite well I'm sure.
