I see many references to this, especially when dealing with infernal spirits. Some lead just a handful, others control legions into the hundreds.

I assume it is refering to the first definition:

Many other's are princes, generals, or dukes...While I am interested in the heiarchy of them, I'm even more curious as to what do they do with the legions under their control?

No, in all seriousness, I have wondered this myself and have come to the conclusion, while listening to the "lon interview" that they are just there to help the big guys with their jobs. Like Lon's example of the archangle Gravityeal, who governs over such angels as tugael and pullael or whatever. My point is, I think they are just there to 1. lessen the load on the big kahoonas, and 2. specialize. Feel free to correct me.
