Distorted vision...

I have no idea if this is something cool, or just something natural that happens with your eyes, but I experience a bizarre phenomenon when I stare 'through' something - whatever I'm staring at starts to waver and shift, like it's made of mercury or something... as if it isn't quite real, and cannot bear such scrutiny.
This may be something that happens naturally when your eyes get strained or lazy or something, but I was interested to hear from other OFers if they ahve experienced such a thing before, and what kind of explanations may be offered...

i used to get things like that. it seemed to me at times that what i was looking at either had some energy passing through it or that it was breaking up visually into its core components - like opening up to reveal what normally isn't seen.

I think that happens once you start to learn how to see auras and energy. Does every thing sort of fade dark in a way?
If I set my eyes to try and see auras I will somtimes see tiny little specks of light moving around... is this an eye problem? Or do other people see this?

I have never experienced being able to see things waver and shift, aside from the resulting imagery after putting psilocybin into my system, but I have seen very small, constantly moving, tiny points of light that seem to everywhere all at once. This happens almost everyday, especially when there are no clouds in the sky and I am just focusing on a single point in space. It basically resembles a meditative state with my eyes open, and I don't think we share the same eye problem daev, but this could be.

The tiny pinpoints of light are something I've become so used to that I haven't even bothered to ask if anyone else sees them - they're just normal to me.
The distorted vision is reminiscent of the effects of various psychotropic drugs, but this is when I'm stone cold sober, just chilling in the Gardens in the city, or at home in the back yard, or staring at the wall out of boredom...

I have heard this can happen when entering trance state. It sounds similar to what happens to me if i look at things (as if i am looking at one of those 3d pictures that are just patterns but if you stare at them a certain way a image pops out)
Pinpoints of light can just be a natural reaction from the colour that you previously looked at... i forget the exact details but sometimes you will see the opposite colour in the same shape that you were just looking at.

Hollyanne - yeah, that's a residual afterimage on your retina - these are actually tiny little pinpricks of dancing white light... maybe I'm just crazy

It's just your eyes fighting going out of focus.
