"Ok, when I was a lot younger, I studied under a doctor, and this guy was brilliant, he knew his stuff and always kept an open mind, well there was one experiment we decided, that we'd run a two way experiment.
Note: This was in a time when Hypnosis, and anything vaguely paranormal was considered bullshit.
We hypnotised a young lady who I'll refer to as Sarah.
Anyway, Sarah was instructed over a span of 10 hours, to believe that she was a psychic, and could read other peoples thoughts.
Crazy, I know. Half an hour, after the last session, we put her to the test, a student I'll refer to as James, was given a set of cards, the cards were shuffled by me, and put down in front of him, he took the top card, we then asked Sarah what the card was.
She got it right, every single card.
So, why didn't this go down in history? Why does no one else know about it?
The day after testing, we were in lecture, when a man in a suit walked in, and asked to speak with our lecturer, they were gone for about half an hour.
The next day, when we should have been concluding our hypnosis experiment, our teacher came in, told us that the experiment was over, and not to repeat it, or speak of it again.
Now I'm not suggesting some conspiracy here, like I said, back then, it was all considered bullshit, and the prof. looked really quite scared, so none of us pursued it any further.
Over the past five years, I've been getting back into hypnosis again, in a big way, and I've repeated the experiment, four times.
1. Honestly believed that he was a psychic, but couldn't back it up with proof.
2. Number 2 was intresting, she went for 15 different sessions, of an hour and a half long each, and at the end, did not believe she was a psychic, after that I gave in, and concluded that it was all a matter of chance, untill a month and a half later, I bumped into her again, she was working as a psychic gypsie (Lame, I know, but that was her choice)
After that, I figured that it really couldn't be coincidence any more, so came number three.
3. Went through 10 hours all together, at the end of it, she got five "What number am I thinking, 1-100" Right, in a row. Then my ex- partner asked her to scan him, he went quiet for a second, then she looked at me, and... its hard to explain in words really, our eyes met for a second, and it felt like I was having an out of body experience, as I got my breath back, I asked her what it was like, she told us she didn't know, and needed to go think things over, I got a phone call off her a few days after telling me thanks for my help, but she wanted to continue her journey on her own, what she meant by that... I'm unsure. Never heard from her again, that was last year.
4. 4. Is my work in progress, she's a die hard sceptic, and we're trying to get her to be a telepath/telekenetic, she claims no knowledge of being in hypnosis, but we're continuing with it, so far we've not asked her to test it, and told her not to until we tell her, though sometimes, during hypnosis, I will feel a strange atmosphere.

Ok, let the flaming commence, if I was sitting where you were sitting, I'd call me a liar, or dillusional, you have only my word to go on that I'm not.
I have no reason to lie, I dont get an inflated ego out of it, and I'm not making money out of it or anything, I just want people's opinions on it.
If this is a success, I may run some audio files, for people- If I can, anyone know any free webhost's that will run it? I dont want to be paying a load for something I'm doing for free, also if I do do them, I'll run some off on CD, which I'll give away for free (Plus shipping/P&P)



feel a little more awake and generally calm, and i also worry that it won't work like i think it will. i don't remember much from the trance with si, but i'm also not trying to remember. the word "vienna" came to mind when si asked me what i heard his voice say, and he said that he's actually going there this weekend. i will have to see what happens during the next session.

immediately after that, i tried to visualize what the back cover of my TIME magazine looked like, and liquor came to mind. when i turned it over, vodka was being advertised. i tried it on a different magazine, and all that came to mind was "blackness." i turned it over, and there was a jet black car being advertised.

call it coincidence, i don't know. but i will keep experimenting."

interesting. Of course both Hypnosis and psychicness (I don't think thats a word) are brain related, so It would make sense that if you could convince someone he was pyschic etc. then I suppose the brain could adjust itself.

From what I understand, perhaps the most difficult part of the magical journey is overcoming self-imposed limitations. If hypnosis provides a leg up to do so...

interesting,i dont have much time plus i am tired right now.
Hypnosis lifts the restrictions the mind feels and some people are able to be inducted more easily than others,making them more susceptable to prompts.Also most likely awakens the third eye. I have experimented with hypnosis on a couple of close friends,and instructed them to open their third eyes not too much(in case of endangering them) in away i guess it worked somewhat.

Jose Silva (now passed on) claims to have been training people to be psychic through hypnosis for decades. And regardless of what anyone says it IS hypnosis. I went through his Basic Lecture Seminar and at the end we did an exercise where we scanned a person whom was not present and that we had never met before for illnesses. At first I got an incredibly low degree of accuracy, but my partner in the exercise began to get hit after hit correct, and suddenly something just turned clicked and I too was able to get a high degree of accuracy in the exercise. I certainly believe hypnosis can awaken latent psychic abilities.

Well to tell you the truth I have heard similar stories... al of wich are believable.

One of the bigest limitations of the human mind before any practices concerning psichism is that of not believing. Thats because it usualy goes against what thei've been taught during their lives, and no mater how much they see it in action there will always be a part of theire mind that just says "no". But hypnosis isnt just the only way to make thing easier for somebody; some months ago a friend of mine asked me to teach him... well all I realy did was tell him that he was a natural for it because I sensed it in him, though that was realy just a heavy load of crap, we just did a few exercizes and after a week he had a 60% average on telling out cards. All I realy did for him was give him an imaginary boat to cross the lake and reach his goal, though he swam all the way.

Hypnotism isnt always a good aproach because it gives people the "tool" but not the instructions; in other words it leaves them with what they want (or not), but not the wisdom to controll it. Some also say it creates dependancy on the hypnotist. Though I think that there shouldnt be much problems if its done right.

You can always hypnotize yourself... it's really not that hard to learn. The hardest part is realizing you are in trance... you do not necessarily have to feel all that altered, and certainly don't have to be unconcious, for a hypnotic suggestion to work.

darroth-that is an interesting story and i don't think people would flame you for sharing your experience and so far, i am right.
i'm only going to comment off of your original post.
i think that it was very suspect that your professor was approached by a dude to talk in private and then after that he was scared and cancelled the project.
now if an open-minded, brilliant person was scared and cancelled off something that was intriging, then that was definately suspect.
so here goes my paranoid delusioned theory: you said that this was when hypnosis was considered to be bs-right?
what era was this, was this before the 60's or something. i mean there was a general attitude of close-mindedness, and a sense of being a model citizen with high christian morals at that time.
i imagine this from watching movies because i am too young to know how it was back then for sure.
but let me say this; everybody is psychic! it's just some are more open to this than others.
sometimes it takes a traumatic experience to open a person's mind, or hypnosis or occult exercises, etc.
i think that the government is in on many things and has it's hands in many things. one of the main themes of the government or any rich and powerful government is control.
if you control the peasants and the attendants in the court and occupy them with entertainment or something as to distract them, they will not think for themselves because if they did, perhaps they will realize that a great wrong is going on, and they will band together and fight the source which i would imagine is the government.
i mean this was done in the roman empire and the medieval times and it still goes on today.
"they" have their hands in everything, even the occult and metaphysical fields. and they don't want you to think for yourself.
i guess this pertained to your experience because as you have said, this was around the time that the theory of hypnosis was considered bs.
so how could this mysterious person or whoever he represented knew about what your professor was conducting?
i think it's all connected and it pertains to us. thankfully today, we live in an age were we can come to places like this and study what we want. thank god for that.
but they're into it to and they're always thinking ahead.
now, that i got that out of my system, i will say that i am not surprised that your most skeptic of subjects have improved their psychic abilities and yes, hypnosis among a few other things can help make this happen.
i wish you luck with your project and please keep me informed.

The only thing that holds the world together is your mind, so altering that can alter the world. Or more precisely, your perception of the world. EDIT: The man with horns only thought he had horns, and believed it so much, that to him they were physically present. To everyone else, he just looked like a lunatic. I've tried that before with my personality. I made myself believe I had psychopath qualities and a week later some guy at school was pissing me of so I gripped his throat. I was pretty calm and I thought why not kill him? "It's just a life, and the bastardâ??s wasting it." I came to and let the guy go. It was pretty scary. Thanks for the warning!

yes... those cases are common... theres this bum that lives a couple miles away from my house, he lost it all trying to get himself the sportscar of his dreams, is house, family, EVERYTHING!
Now he's homeless... but the good part of the story is that he got his car, it just isnt real. I can see him all day passing changes, adjusting the reflectors, trying to pick people up, making sound like the motor and all that things.

I believe you. I've actually have seen my great aunts b-friend hypnotize 4 out of 5 people random in stillwater, Minnesota at this show. I remember it some what good because it was so funny even after two years. The instructor had them sit down in chairs and calmly hypnotize them on this stage.Then told the four people that they were on a bus and it was real hot outside. Then the instructor told them that the ac went out on the bus.

Two seconds after that they started to sweat and fanning themselves with their hands. The audience and I started cracking up when one of the men took his shirt off because he was getting too hot. Then the instructor told them that the ac turned back on and they all sighed. He explained to them that it was getting too cold on the bus now with the ac on. So they started shivering and some didn't even knew eachother but they started to cuddle with one and the other to keep warm.

The same man who took his shirt off that one time didn't have anyone to cuddle with but I thougt he looked shy to me so he was franticly looking around for something to keep him warm. The instructor finally said that they were all back to normal body temperature. He told them to stand up and get in a line facing the audience. He told them that they were all from a different planet. This got a little weird and a little bit funny.

He went to one person at a time and asked each one the same questions. The first question was "what planet are you from" second was "what's your name." What was weird was that each person had a different planet and name that you couldn't even pronounce. The funny part was that each person had a different voice that sounded like it was from another planet but what freaked me out a bit is one of the participants voice didn't even sound like it was her. What I mean by that is that the voice that came out of her didn't' sound possible for her to make.

There was a lot more he done but it was a long time ago and I only remember few thing but he said to them to go back to their seat where they were sitting before they were picked by him at the beginning of the show. Before they did he first told them whenever they hear him say the word "the" they would start laughing and told them when he clapped his hand together three times they would snap out of it. So they went back to their seats and the instructor explained to the audience what he just did and everytime he said the word "the." The four people would start laughing. It was so hilarious.

The instructor clapped his hands and we all looked at them to see if they snapped out of it and they did. I remember after the show hearing some people ask the participants about it and one said that they knew what they were doing but they didn't care and that they probably wouldnt have done it otherwise. Another one said that they couldnt help it. Thats all I remember.
