I was a member of the old site, mostly someone who read and rarely contributed but I love(d) this site and was quite disappointed to find it gone.

I have some natural occult stirrings in my family, psychic abilities and such, which somehow led me to study Wicca at 14. I started out pretty excited about the religion and the magick, reading mostly RavenWolf and Cunningham with Starhawk mixed in there somewhere. I sort of didn't really know much about magical practices when I entered and a couple of years ago I realized that the male/female balance of Wicca was off-putting to me as a lesbian because that union was so exalted and I'm so distant from it. I'm currently reading Liber Null and I'm enjoying it so far because it doesn't fluff around, just gets straight to "here's what you have to do, it's hard, but yeah life is tough."

I don't think the book is perfect but it's nice to have less Charlie the Unicorn-ness in the books.

Anyway hi. I look forward to meeting people here.

I was a fan of the old site as well... and no one seems to know why it went down, either. At least the old database was saved.

Also, lol@RavenWolf. I wish I could give an informed critique of her materials, but the names of her books are enough to dissuade me from reading them. I know you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, but Dear God.

Liber Null is another story. I hope you get a lot out of it.

Anyway, welcome to the forum.

Thanks all. Yes, I had "Teen Witch," "To Ride a Silver Broomstick," and "To Stir a Magick Cauldron." Enough people have dedicated heaps and barrels of time to explaining all the reasons she sucks, so I won't bother. Liber Null so far is basically "here's some hard work, the explanation for how is simple but it's hard so go do it." It's going to take me a lot of time to get through that book.

Welcome ^_^

I think I have a copy of "teen witch" somewhere from way back when (oh the shame), I've been thinking about going through it with a red pen and a black marker lol

I have SRW's 'The Solitary Witch'. I bought it and Scott Cunningham's about the same time, when I was teaching beginners. The Solitary Witch has some pretty good, simple, well explained things if you look for them. Scott Cunningham's (can't remember the name) but it is for beginners...is better and less biased in the history. So I referred to that one and recommended it to students. (not SRW tho...lol). Used other resources as well, The Witches Bible for one...the section explaining sabbats and other special days is excellent.
