Winter Solstice and the Mystery of Christmas
Posted: Mon Dec 19, 2011 11:56 pm
You often hear people talk about the origens of Christmas being involved with the time of Winter Solstice, but unfortunately it is either misinterpretted (getting the cart before the horse), or simply acknowledged and then forgotten. However, this holiday season I suggest we think a little more deeply about the significance of these mysteries and see what we can learn. Here's a brief synopsis with some meditations I put together on the Christmas Star. Enjoy. And Happy holidays! [wink]
Just a few notes to keep in mind when exploring the Gospel accounts of the births of John and Jesus. From the canonical scriptures, the only possible month for the birth of John the Baptist is in June. Furthermore, the only possible month for the birth of Jesus is December. Consider the following.
On Saturday Oct. 1, 7 B.C. [YOM KIPPUR] Zachariah, as High Priest would have entered the Temple on the Day of Atonement and received the annunciation of John's conception that occurred sometime in October and his birth following nine months later sometime in the month of June 6 B.C. Six months after the conception of St. John, Christ was conceived and born accordingly 9 months later in December 6 B.C.
The date of April 17 is a very portentous and ominous date in 6 B.C., for all seven classical planets were in Grand Conjunction with Jupiter and Luna in stationary conjunction in the Sign of Aries, with exactly the same formation occurring 9 months later (nearly to the day) on Dec. 19, 6. B.C., when after retrograde transit again became in stationary conjunction with Luna in Aries. It was probably in April that the Magi began tracking the motions of Jupiter to see what portents it held being in such a splendid and powerful alignments with the other planets on this date. This fits perfectly with the description in Luke's Gospel that the star 'went before them' (retrograde transit) and 'stood above' (i.e., became stationary) where the child was (in the 7th House / Aries in conjunction with the Moon). So they no doubt watched tracked it as professional court Magi of the Orient for the full 9 months during their travels.

[APRIL 17, 6 B.C.- Grand Planetary Conjunction with Jupiter and Luna in stationary conjunction/occultation in Aries]
That the birth of John happened in June and the birth of Jesus happened in December can be gleaned from the canonical gospels from the time-line of Zachariah's service in the Temple on Yom Kippur. It is a very old tradition in the church that John was born on June 24th. Furthermore, based upon the astronomical data we know have as the planetary motions and stationary conjunction of Jupiter and the Moon, it is now beyond doubt that Jesus of Nazareth was born upon the night of Dec. 19-20 6. B.C. That would put his circumcision 8 days latter on the 27th or 28th and his dedication in the Temple on Saturday, Jan. 28th. The traditional Orthodox Presentation Feast is very close on Feb. 2.
On the issue of whether or not the Jupiter/Luna stationary conjunction on Dec. 19-20 is the correct event, we are given a great indication that it is based upon the very 'gifts of the Magi'-- Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh. The Gold would have represented the Aurora, or the Day Spring of the East/Anatola (Sol entering into Solstice and being born)[Technically, Sol began to enter Solstice early on the 19th of Dec. 6 B.C., reaching full astronomical solstice on the 21st. So Jesus was born right at Winter Solstice]. Frankincense would magically correspond to the fragrance of royal Jupiter, and Myrrh was magically connected to the Moon from very ancient times and can even be seen to have such magical correspondence in the Biblical Song of Solomon.
Another indication from the gospels that our Dec. 19-20 stationary transit of Jupiter is the correct stellar event is that the picture in Bethlehem and in the heavens is the same. Luna (the Mother) is 'holding' the Kingly Jupiter in her 'bosom' in the 7th House (Aries), just as Mary (the Mother) is holding Jesus (the King of Israel) in her bosom in the House at Bethlehem.

[DECEMBER 19-20 6 B.C. looking west toward Bethlehem from Jerusalem, Israel. Jupiter and Luna come into perfect stationary conjunction at approximately 11:30 P.M. in the 7th house with Jupiter and Mars (to the east in Virgo) in perfect opposition alignment]
