Most books talk about masturbating to activate a sigil.

Are there any other ways of activating it? I'd prefer ways of charging the sigil that I can execute outdoors or at work/school.

Any ideas?

What I have found works pretty well is turning the SOI into both a sigil and a mantra. Hold the image of the sigil in your mind while repeating the mantra (silently or aloud) and giving all (or at least as much as possible) of your focus to the image and the sound.

Sounds good. I'll try to create both sigil and mantra and visualize it in meditative state while chanting the mantra.

I'm trying to charge them up playing some roms, it's very soon to determine if it's working, but I'd say some of them might get seeded.

I've successfully charged them by meditating on them and holding the sigil in my line of site for a focal point. You mentioned being outside to charge the sigil. You can go for a jog or walk and when your heart rate is really up there charge the sigil using the exhaustion for the state of gnosis.

Sigil magic is the first magical practice that I used, and my sigils are extremely effective, yet I've never charged one in my life. I just draw one out, put it someplace appropriate, and don't think about it again until my goal has been accomplished.

From what I understand this sort of magic is meant as preparation and should be completed ahead of time and not on the go.

what do you think of the method of getting other people to charge your sigil, by writing it on a wall, in a public place, do you think that will be effective?

I was also wondering, if you are charging a sigil by staring at it or visualising it, how long do you think this would normally take? or would it be a matter of the more you want to sway things, the longer you need to work at it?

Trataka on a sigil for effective manipulation of emotions and feelings makes a few moments only.
For effective manipulation of circumstances, jujus and peoples, 5-10 min has worked for me.
Other times I try the same sigil for an 30-60 mins in multiple sessions and no luck manifesting desired outcome.

A good sigil would be center, focus, relax into clear, luminous, lucid mirror-like awareness. Very useful! An Empty circle, or enso is a good sigil for this.

Trataka on the Enso teaches the method used by many great adepts. Relax, wait and let you merge with the point of focus.

Firstly, what i find works is to carefully make the sigil yourself. Like a piece of artwork, a craftsman. put alot of energy into it, the carving, the drawing, the colors, put ALOT of psychic energy into it. this in itself will 'charge' an item.

Secondly, what you are really doing, in terms of real magick, is changing yourself. By concentrating on the symbol you are imprinting it in your subconscious mind. This is an act of evokation or invokation whatever your term. So by making your own sigil, carefully crafting it you are evoking an energy within yourself. bringing it up from the racial subconscious.

In my view the magical process begins the moment you formulate exactly what it is you want to happen.

Creation an SOI has great power which is further enhanced by the work with the letters and the creative process of drawing the sigil.

Charging could be said to be a symbolic conclusion of the process.
