ooookay my last thread on this disappeared :< so lets try this again.
so my favest form of divination thus far is geomancy.
it's a ton of fun to study all the figures and so far my divinations are accurate :>
anyone out there do geomancy?
do you like it?

Nope - never gotten into geomancy. In the interests of starting a conversation on the topic, could you please give us a run-down of what it is, how its used and what your own personal take is on the results?

all that i know of it, i know from this tiny ooooolllldddddd 'astrological geomancy' book that i found in the antique store i work at. most of it is highly influenced by Cornelius Agrippa.Case wrote:Nope - never gotten into geomancy. anyway, this is what i have thus far:
there are 16 different characters in geomancy, all of which have different elements, planets, zodiacs, and general 'good or bad or more good than bad and vise versa' attributed to them (how each character was assigned a couple elements and planets was through a process that i won't get into). each character represents something, kinda like with runes.

as you can see, like with runes, each character has a latin name of what it is supposed to represent (not saying the rune names are latin, but you get the idea). for example, see Populus or People. the dots are supposed to be seen as different sets of eyes like a group of people would have. Via or the Way is supposed to represent a straight road, Conjuctio or Conjunction represents a cross in the roads or communication.
but lets go to one that is slightly more difficult, Amissio or Loss is supposed to be visualized as two bowls turned upside-down to represent well... loss. and so on.
the symbolism and name behind each character makes it easier to memorize it's personality, because each symbol is supposed to come with it it's own personality. the personality of this symbol can be changed, for better or worse, depending on what other symbols are seen with it and what is desired. such as with Carcer or Prison, which is visualized as a closed cell. in the case of Carcer, it is generally a bad symbol to see, especially when the questioner is seeking action, but in the cases where inaction or delay is desired it would be seen as beneficial.
but now we get into actually doing the reading. first you get into whatever mindset you normally do before you are about to do a divination. letting your hand guide you, you make sixteen rows of dots that contain an uncounted number. like thus:

this is the start of a long process. after doing this, you can relax. this is where you will draw four figures known as the 'mothers'.
count how many dots are in the first row, in this case it is 11. on a separate sheet of paper, or to the side of the paper you made the dots, mark a single dot if the # in the row is odd or two dots if the # is even. in this case, row 1 will have a single dot.
count the second row and do the same. in this case, the number in the second row is 13 so you will make a single dot below the first. after your fourth row you have your first mother. in this case, our first mother is Via. continue this process until you have four complete mothers. from the mothers you do a process to get four 'Daughters' from the four daughters you do a different process to get four 'Nephews' and from the nephews you get two 'Witnesses' and from the two witnesses you get the Judge, which is kinda like the ultimate answer to your question.
sorry, i didn't realize i was detailing the process of how to do it until it was too late. it's just kinda hard to explain otherwise.
each figure in each house represents a different answer to a part of your question. there are other ways to do this that are more detailed and have more to do with astrology, but i won't get too into that.
thus far i've done about 2 to 3 divinations a day through this method. some have come to pass and some will have yet to come to pass. some seemed so unlikely to happen, but the first part has happened and i'm worried that the rest will actually happen also. but i'm human and i'm not perfect and i'm definitely NOT a prophet.
one person i answered the question for was asking about world events that very much effect everyone, and questions like that can make people on edge when the answer is iffy.

Sounds really interesting - I'll have to look deeper into it sometime. Thanks for sharing [thumbup]
