Very strange things are happening to me. Please help.

Hi there. I'm Dee. I'm new here. I'd like to preface this by saying that if I inadvertently use the wrong term or say something that is not acceptable, it's not with malicious intent. I don't mean to offend anyone. Up until recently, I had no knowledge of the occult and was just living a normal, average life.
So here's a little background information on me. I'm 25, female, and a musician. Recently, some very strange things have been happening to me. These things have caused me much anxiety and fear, especially recently. They seem to only be getting worse. I didn't really know who to ask for guidance until an internet stranger pointed out that someone well-versed in the occult might help. So here I am.
In the past couple of years or so, I have been seeing some strange things. Some of these include:
- A cat with one blind eye that was clearly visible on the sidewalk, but when I tried to take a picture of it, it wouldn't show up on my phone screen
- A bloody red eye in the upper corner of my bedroom window. I see it constantly. Not every night, but constantly. My friend has seen it too.
- An old woman sweeping the floor of my house. I see her out of the corner of my eye but when I try to look at her directly, she disappears. She sticks to the ground floor of my house and is always humming. She always has a big greyish-blue shawl over her shoulders and sometimes I think I can hear her humming.
- When I'm in a noisy place, I sometimes hear a huge guttural roar. It's not like hearing it from my ears. It's in my brain and it always startles me.
- I get flashes of what a person is going to say right before they say it. Verbatim. I also get deja vu way more often than any normal person should. Maybe about a couple of times a week.
- Very rarely, I'll be somewhere and suddenly get a very detailed mental image of how it must have looked like hundreds of years ago.
- Very often, I'll get a very short glimpse of a person before they sort of just disappear. This happens everywhere, especially in crowded areas. Usually, I think they're just another normal human until they just vanish.
- I get the most horrible nightmares you can imagine. I get them very often as well. I'm talking absolutely gruesome. Rape, murder, plague. I usually remember my dreams pretty well but when I have these nightmares, they stick with me quite vividly throughout the day.
- This is the thing that scares me most and I don't know why. It always happens when I'm alone. I'll get a short glimpse of a man grinning maniacally at me. He's skinny, has a mustache, looks to be in his 40's.
I'm sure I'm forgetting a ton of stuff, but this all I can remember for right now. A lot of other little things happen, especially stuff like small predictions and strange chills. I went to a psychic about a year ago and she told me I was an empath, something which I always knew I was but never really had a name for. I've always been susceptible to other people's (and animals!) emotions, but it was never really that strong. I'm very confused as to why all of this is happening now. If this is inherent in me, why did it take so long for it to show up? I know that maybe a lot of you will disagree with me on this point, but I really want it to go away. It terrifies me. I haven't told anyone except for that internet stranger. S/he suggested talking to the things I see, but I can't even comprehend doing that. It physically freezes me in fear. I feel paralyzed, stressed, exhausted, and angry. I was always a skeptic about this sort of stuff too, so now I'm a bit at war with myself as well. I think I might be crazy or schizophrenic. I don't know. I thought that before dropping half my savings on a psychiatrist, maybe I can figure this out on my own with the help of you guys.

So, you're an empath, a sensitive and you most likely see ghosts and possibly other entities. Most of us here do. I don't know anything about you other than what you wrote but I highly doubt that you're crazy.
The most important thing that I can tell you is this:
Once you open these doors (including talking to entities and the dead) you will NEVER EVER be able to close those doors again.
If this is not the path that you want to walk then don't play, experiment, try it out, ect.
---------------------------------------------------
Why did it start now?
- Some family trads don't begin training until you're in your 20s, married, have your first pregnancy or child, etc. Sometimes, it's in your bloodline to bloom later than adolescence.
Do you have any ancestors that had these gifts or were 'eccentric' in their own way?
- Have you recently moved to a new place or area?
- Are you under a lot of stress? Had an emotional upheaval?
- Have you gotten so busy with life that you've forgotten to subconsciously ignore these things?
- Once you begin to notice these types of things people can begin seeking them out without even realizing it. Like when you buy a new red Honda you suddenly realize how many red cars and Hondas are on the road with you that you just never noticed before.
- Something may have happened that opened a door in your mind. Have you started meditating, doing yoga, tia chi or any other type of energetic practice? Hell, you could've watched a scary movie that awoke what was lying dormant within you.
---------------------------------------------------
Think back to your childhood. Did you have any odd experiences? Imaginary playmates? Most kids are taught that these things 'aren't real' and are trained out of it. If the gift is strong enough it'll re-surface eventually.
-----------------------------------------------
I neither agree nor disagree. It's your life. It's your choice - hopefully. Not everyone wants to walk these paths. If you want no part of it then you want no part of it. It's not an easy life path to walk. My Mother has many of the gifts that you've described above among others. She wanted no part of it as well. It scared the crap out of her. My Grandmother bound her. And for the most part it held and worked. She still had the gift of minor prophecy and when in a highly emotional state could fling out unfocused and untrained magic - never a good thing.
Onto the 'hopefully having a choice' thing. Not everyone gets to opt out of these things. If your gifts continue to manifest and get stronger, at some point, you may NEED to learn how to control them.
Did you ever see the movie Constantine with Keano Reeves? It had 2 sisters that were both psychic. The one went with it and ended up in the looney bin and eventually was killed. The other sister ignored her gifts until they went dormant - only to have to reawaken them later to save the world. Granted, it's an extreme example but it's the first one that came to mind.
Some people really can ignore and force themselves to not see until these gifts go back into dormancy. Notice I did not say 'until they go away' because they don't.
-------------------------------------
I just want to give you something to think on here. Before you truly and completely decide that you no longer want ANY part of psychic abilities or the occult world...
These abilities/gifts (or curses - depending on the day) are given to us for a reason. It's really not all that different than being a gifted musician and refusing to pick up a guitar. The gift of being musically inclined comes from inside of you. It's a part of you. You can choose whether or not you want to embrace it, learn more and become really damn good at what you were naturally born to do. But not everybody wants that or any part of it. I'm not passing judgement here one way or the other. I would just like you to think on this for a little bit with it in perspective.
----------------------------------------
Another thing that's actually important is what type of religious household did you grow up in? Our early conditioning plays a big part in how people can or won't accept these things. Is this something that you were taught to be evil because of what you were taught as a child?
Or, it could just scare the crap out of you and you just want no part of it.
So, to answer your other question (which I kinda did above when I discussed my Mother) YES, there are things that can be done to 'make it go away'. But there is a caveat - it may not be able to go completely away.

Hi there, thank you so much for your reply.
As far as ancestors, my aunt somehow always knows when there's something wrong with her kids. My mom just recently told me that she sometimes sees images of greenery in desolate places, and I have a distant relative that has very strong psychic awareness. I don't know about anyone further back in my family line.
I'm not really under much stress at all. There's a little bit of pressure from my family to get hitched to my significant other, but it's not really eating away at me or anything. I've never meditated or done any type of energetic practice in my life but hey, I do watch a lot of horror movies! My life has gotten significantly busier though. I didn't realize that I could subconsciously ignore these things.
The scary things, I could do without. I don't mind the deja vu or the images from the past or the predicting stuff. I don't think I can choose which of these gifts/curses I can keep. Does it work that way? Is it all or nothing at all? If that's the case, I definitely choose nothing at all. I thought about it a lot and while I do think some of it is pretty cool, I really don't want to have to go through the nightmares and the scary images for the rest of my life. The thought of that makes me feel trapped and hopeless.
I grew up in a Muslim household. My parents never taught me that these things were evil. I actually think they'd want me to embrace it because they're both really into meditating and spirituality and stuff like that.

People always explain what they believe they've experienced, which is always interesting, but not super helpful. You'll need to explain when you started having these experiences, what was going on, stressors, life events surrounding experiences... Imagine we are doctors and need you to describe all your symptoms. You have a bit, but that's where the details matter.

You can explore some talents and suppress others to a certain extent, and there are some fairly easy things you can do about unwanted entities being near you. But they are not fool proof there is always a chance the unwanted bits could return to the fore, though once you guarded against them once it is fairly easy to do so again.
So it's sort of an all or nothing thing, but you can mostly filter the nasty bits out once you learn a bit.

I agree.
All or nothing is a very generalized sweeping statement. Few things are rarely that cut and dry. I do think, in this case, that trying to learn some parts while trying to suppress others isn't going to work out very well.

Where do I start learning how to suppress the nasty things?

You said you were raised Muslim. My knowledge of that is quite limited. Is it possible to find a Sunni to bind you? (Or that could be the dumbest idea I've had yet - I really don't know.)
Ignore it. Tell yourself it's not real. You don't see it. It's not there. Turn around and walk away when you do.

Strange sights, sounds, and feelings are what drove me to the occult a few years ago. People that 'vanished' suddenly or could only be seen from the corner of my eye, whispers that were not my voice but seemed to only be in my head and were definitely directed towards me, and at least one malevolent presence and accompanying nightmares. Your case sounds similar, but more extreme. You also seem to have a stronger natural talent for such things than I do.
Anyway, maybe you can benefit from my limited experience. I found two techniques that seemed to help: meditation and a banishing ritual. The meditation (having never tried it before I did basic breathing focused meditation) actually seemed to enhance my perception of the strange things, but also gave me some control over when I saw them and enhanced my banishing ritual.
As for the banishing, I tried several techniques before I found something that worked for me and suggest you do the same. I don't know anything about the Muslim religion, but most religions have an exorcism or blessing for these types of situations. If you have any belief in your household religion, that might be a good place to start.

One of these could be very helpful. It won't take away your [second]sight, but it will protect and bless you and the space you hang it in,maybe get one for the home and a necklace or other wearable item too?
My parents never taught me that these things were evil. I actually think they'd want me to embrace it because they're both really into meditating and spirituality and stuff like that.
Maybe you should have that conversation with them before deciding what path to take?

Sunni is just a sect of Islam. Like Protestants and Catholics. Sunni and Shia. I am a Sunni! But that's okay, it can be confusing stuff.

Hi, thanks for your input. I actually tried meditating today. Nothing weird happened. In fact, it was very relaxing. I don't know, maybe it was just my state of mind. I was very calm at the time. Next time something strange happens, I'll try it again.
I'm not particularly religious, but I'll do my research and see what I can come up with!

I have a painting of a Hamsa in my hallway! Maybe I need a physical object though. I'll try that, thank you.
That's a good idea, although I'm very hesitant to tell my parents about all of this. They might drag me to one of their holistic therapy buddies!

It is and I really don't know much about it. It's my (limited) understanding that the Sunni sect is much more open to supernatural things but I could be wrong on that, too.

I don't know about Islam either, but I'm pretty sure it's the Sufi branch that's known for being more invovled in esotericism, mysticism, and magic.

Obviously that is a ghost but there two ways and you need to choose one;
Do you want to free from it?
Do you want to strengthen a bond and make it to tell you what it needs?
Usually people who sees things like this are maybe chosen by his/ her ancestors to carry out that ever task he / she maybe given but not everyone that who get chosen agrees with the spirits so chose what you want maybe I can give some technique to combat it.
