RIP Donald Michael Kraig

Post by Eremita »

I've just read across several sites that Donald Michael Kraig (author of Modern Magick) died last week (17 March 2014) from pancreatic cancer.

I feel quite sad about that - I'd only just started reading through his book (which I'm sure many of you have read); I've really taken a liking to his writing and he strikes me as having been a down to earth kind of character.

Rest easy, old fellow, and thanks for your hefty contributions. :)

I don't know if he was a kind person or not, since I didn't know him personally. But I have great respect from his published work, therefore, requiescat in pacem [pray]
bye bye

I'm stunned that he has passed but I am sure he has not stopped working. I think he will have a place in the history of the occult.

I had met Mr Kraig a few times, and he was indeed a down to earth fellow. He was always a rather large happy figure, and very full of life. I enjoyed our talks greatly.

May that Great Mouth be upon Him, and awaken his eyes unto that vast Sea!

+1

I haven't read Modern Magick but I have added it to my Amazon wish list.

From what Nick Farrell was saying on his blog it sounds like he had a lot of support and people praying for his health. I'd suppose the Grand Architect knows best. LVX and Peace Profound to him.

Oh, I'm very saddened. DMK was my great memory on magickal beginnings!
Tho I never completed my training in Sex Magick, I was hoping to get into Namaste108 one day...

This is dreadful news. The late William Gray reviewed the first edition of Modern Magick and recommended it to me as the ideal DIY neophyte manual. I built my personal magical studies around DMK's lessons and I can testify to their effectiveness. Don was always bursting with enthusiasm and was never afraid to try new and interesting avenues of magical exploration. He hadn't finished living yet. He'll be sorely missed.

Its been a horrible year for me so far. I was lying in hospital with a badly broken ankle when the news of Don's passing came. Two months later and my own father dies after a rapid sickbed.I must check the planetary transits on these events. There's definitely been a succession of bad moons rising for me!

Thanks for what you left us, Don. May you forever walk in Light.
