LBRP/LIRP vs. fixed signs or Aristotelian wheel

Why do they differ?

I've tried to figure out why GD has Air at East, Water at West, Fire at South, Earth at North, when this doesn't match either the fixed signs of the zodiac nor the Aristotelian wheel that Bardon is fond of (which only switches up Aquarius and Scorpio in function from the traditional belief that Scorpio is Water and Aquarius air).

Is there another practical angle of having this setup which I'm missing? Even in considering the Tree of Life one needs Hod and Netzach (Water and Fire) across from each other and we're right back at the Aristotelian wheel anyway.

Perhaps it's because of where it's physically located. The Atlantic Ocean is literally to the West. The desert is to the south, etc.

I'm on the east coast of the US. When I call upon the elements - water is to the East. But, then again, I've custom tailored my own practice over the years so I do some things a little differently than others.

The pattern of the Sun (for directions). South is the Sun at noon, and North at midnight, being Earth. East (the Golden Dawn) is the rising (rebirth) of the Sun "Osiris Arisen" (symbol of the Heirophant), the "Dawning of Light", and related to Air the principle of life. West is the dying sun and water. Look within the Z-5 documents that are the basis of the Neophyte ritual, and the symbol of the officers for more detail. You can understand much of these associations of the elements and directions from studying the officers for each of the four stations, mainly the Heirophant, Hiereus, Dadauoches, and Stolisties. These are the four cardinal officers of the Neophyte ritual 0=0.
