You'll probably not be able to find just ONE book that teaches you all you want to know.

I've not found any books in English that I can really recommend so I leave that to the other members.
But be prepared to study from more then one source.

Have you looked at http://www.learntarot.com ? I learned to read Tarot using this website, and still use it as a reference sometimes. It is quite marvelous; methodical, well-written and easy to follow, using the popular Rider-Waite deck as the foundation.

Good luck! :)

This looks really good - I like the way the material has been laid out in such a logical progression. I don't really have much to share in terms of source material, I was taught how to read tarot by someone and then developed my own style from years of practice, but I'd suggest maybe joining a tarot forum? That way you can discuss your findings and development with others, and get ideas and guidance from more experienced readers.
