So who knows anything about different types of shamanism? Someone claiming to be an Aegean shaman has crossed my path and I'd like to know more before walking into that conversation.

I haven't seen anyone like that here and I've been here a while.

It sounds like the ancient magi that were taught by Thoth in the Emerald Tablets. At least from the brief interaction we had.

Doubtful, unless they were female. The Aegean Shamanistic tradition was solely taken up by women, from memory. If I'm remembering correctly, a man was called a 'priest', not a 'shaman', though the women were usually called 'Shaman-priestesses'. The 'Smaragdine Tablet' itself is widely considered to be a forgery anyway - it definitely couldn't be considered a tool of any 'ancient magi', unless they're simply using it as an icon of Hermeticism. As Hermeticism was at its peak at least two hundred years before the period that the Emerald Tablets have been dated to, I'd question the authenticity of someone relying on them as a primary teaching tool.
