Scrying With A "Mirror"

Hey guys,

It's been a while since I've posted but yeah, things have been busy. I guess they're going better. But I get the sense something is going to happen. Something not so great. I just, sorta feel it right now. Lately I've been having alot of negative dreams too. Anyways, my friend recommended that I try to use a Scrying Mirror, and to use it for meditation as well. She thinks it can help me prepare for anything coming my way that can be negative. That I should make one with an old glass picture frame, paint it, and I'm set. But I read some obscure comments that suggest using a black surface like black felt or black paper could also work if it's an emergency. I have black felt and a lighter colored black construction paper.

I don't really have the right sort of paint, it's winter, so spray paint would be out of the question in this house, since I have pets.

Does anyone have any idea if this improvised use of a "scrying mirror" would work? Would it be better if I went back to using a black bowl, water and some coloring? I'm intending to use this right now as an emergency, because I need to prepare for what can happen. I am aware that self fulfilling prophecies tend to happen when you prepare for disasters. So maybe I could even avoid scrying for now? Perhaps I should let things happen as they're meant to happen.

I'm distressed. Panicked. :'(

The most important part of a dark mirror is that it casts a reflection. Using a substance like black paper or felt is fine as long as you can place glass over the top in order to create a reflective surface. I personally use both a large piece of perspex that I painted the back of with gloss black modelling paint, and a large Grecian bowl, into which I pour water and then a measure of Indian ink.

Don't panic. Take a moment to breathe and centre yourself. Up to you as to whether you scry or simply trust in the Fates, just stand by what you decide upon and don't let indecision tear you up inside.

Thank you for your reply, friend. I have completed two mirrors, using pieces of the construction paper. They actually look quite lovely and they do cast a reflection. A smaller mirror and a larger one.

Unfortunately this black bowl was used for food. Is there any way I can purify it again to be used or am I better off getting another black bowl?

I'll calm down. In fact I will go meditate with incense and prepare. I will decide my course of action when I'm in a better frame of mind.

Depends on what you believe. I'm a Chaos Magician first and foremost, and have been known to convert carrots into wands where need has arisen [grin]

Ultimately though, I'd suggest getting another bowl and then keeping it for when you may need to use it again. If only on a practical basis, Indian ink can stain surfaces, and you don't want the residue to leech into your food.

Good plan. [thumbup]

I've calmed down. After reading a few older threads on the forum, I've realized I've had no experience or training with scrying on a mirror, and therefore a risky task to attempt. And since I am calmer, maybe I should try a simpler means of finding inner peace and answers, rather than diving into something hastily.
