Writing long posts - please back up your work

Hi guys,
If you're anything like me and you like to write a lot in a post, then you might find that when you hit 'submit' all your hard thought out work suddenly disappears. This is a known problem, and we are looking in to why it happens. Best thing to do is to either have a copy of Word running, and copy the post on to a blank page before you submit it, or simply highlight the post, right click your mouse, and hit Copy. That way, if the gremlins eat your post you wont lose it. [thumbup]

Another option: Saving your post using the 'save' button. If you do this, use this process to get your saved post back:
1. In the user control panel over view page you'll see this on the side panel: 'manage drafts'
2. Go in to this and open the post you want to submit.
3. You'll see: load draft/view/edit,as options under the date of the post.
4. Click load draft and the post will come up. You can edit or review it then hit submit and it should post to the appropriate topic.

Yep. Happened to me more than a few times, and now I always make sure I copy the post BEFORE I submit it.

I'm beginning to think that if I put this much time and effort into a post and it goes poof! that maybe I'm not supposed to post it.

The site has always been quite nice to me. In all honesty there likely isn't a permanent solution to this. It knows what it wants and there's nothing we can do about it.

Just a limitation of the forum software.

I just highlight/copy any text I write on this forum before pushing the 'Submit' button.

I would just like to relate my crazy way of doing it when I am in a hurry. Sometimes I have already clicked on submit and if it takes longer than 2 seconds I go into panic mode. I click in the text box while the browser is still throbbing press control-a and control-c so now if it screws up my post is in the clipboard. If it screws up I just go to the clipboard and paste.
I also have paranoid mode. In paranoid mode I do the same thing except before the post is complete and pressing the preview button instead. The cool thing about paranoid mode is it renews your session for you when you press preview so you have another hour (or whatever the timeout for phpbb is set to).
