I want to learn how to scry to better the communication with the spirits I work with, I know this can take time. I ask that you share tips, tricks and experiences. I appreciate all inputs and would like to kindly Iterate that I am not looking for Shortcuts but just trying to reduce the learning curve.

Ever seen a 3D picture? You have to stare at a spot behind it, let your focus shift and the picture shows itself? Very similar techniques.
You can use whatever medium you like. If the water doesn't work - try other things.

Ground and center, zone out into what you're doing, clear your thoughts first and practice. When you find the medium that you work best with - it should 'click'.

If you have ever done a hallucinogenic substance, remember what your eyes felt like then, and make it happen on your own. If you have never used one of those substances, this manner of sight is difficult to teach, as it has to be learned purely from practice. Hallucinogens force it to happen.
Do not do LSD just to learn to scry.

Some people find that a candle behind and to the side of them works best. It's an ambient lighting kind of thing. Others put it in front of a mirrored surface and watch the reflection dance. If you can see it out of the corner of your eye - the flickers will distract you.

Sit in an empty room with two candles six feet away from your, and six feet from the center mark, each. Then, focus on each candle with a part of your vision.
Hold the focus as long as you're able to while maintaining proper blinking.
This is an open-eye meditation I learned that may help you.
