I'll be doing a bit of research shortly but I've been following along to a small book and glass (crystal) ball I purchased. So far the images have been strange. It's different for me with water scrying where I saw images sort of "floating" in the water. This time, I could make out images in the various shapes I saw in the ball. It was bizarre and I got a bunch of images. Some don't really seem to connect to each other. I'm going to see if there's any connection.

With that in mind is there a good website to use for scrying imagery? I've got a few dream dictionaries that I was told would work the same way, and that the imagery I would find in those books would assist in my associations. Then again, I read that images are personal to the scryer. So maybe they will have a completely different meaning to me than what is written in a book?

A peacock, a circle/halo, a dragon, bug's eyes, mandala, teeth, idol, hydra, fingers and an old man.

Why not use the penultimate book, the Tarot? It is an expression of the highest wisdom, and on similar if not the same plan of understanding as what is seen during scrying.

I do agree though, that everyone will have their own interpretation pasted on their understanding of symbolism/experience/etc.

To me the peacock, dragon, the circle, the old man and the fingers (hand of the philosophers) are all alchemical symbols.

The rest are probably specific to some path you're working on.

That's what my friend mentioned as well, that there were connections to alchemy.

The thing is, I've never worked alchemy before. :O

It's kinda spooky for me.

Alchemy isn't just a practice with metals and the like, there are internal alchemical works as well. In fact, any development of the Self can be considered alchemical (by me :p ). Whether or not you think it would be a path for you is, well.. up to you.

I would say that working with metals and minerals is indeed dangerous, if you have absolutely no experience working in a laboratory type setting. Vegetables not so much. Inhaling smoke from a plant is way safer then inhaling fumes given off by metals and minerals.

So,if you are interested in working with physical substances, it would be a good idea to start in the vegetable kingdom. Most of the common herbs and plants are well known to science, and you can easily find out if something is toxic. It would also be a good idea to study some basic spagyrics practices and techniques like calcining herbs, fermenting plants, distilling alcohol, etc. All that is pretty easy if you have an ounce of common sense and a fire extinguisher on hand

I've never read anything by John Dee regarding alchemy. I've always considered him more of an Enochian guy. Maybe I'll look into him.

I've heard of the "alchemy of the spirit" so to speak. But I wasn't sure how to go about it.

I own very few books that reference alchemy.

John Dee and Edward Kelley participated in alchemical experiments. I know that much, from watching a documentary (Masters of Darkness: Queen Elizabeth's Magician) and reading a book about Enochian magick.

Yes.
Alchemy is like chemistry without the safety-wheels.
BUT, it is a great foundation.

There is a British TV-show called 'Brainiac'. I'm sure it's streaming somewhere.
Anyhow. they do a lot of weird chemistry experiments and it's a fun way to get a basic understanding of the elements.

Your subconsciousness are using the same symbols for most occult work. Dream dictionaries are great. I also added a couple of dictionaries on symbols just to get acquainted with common symbols.
I would also recommend to get some great books about tarot since they are highly symbolical.

A really good technique that I used when learning the tarot cards was to pick a card and then write down absolutely everything I saw on the card. Not just, "man with sticks means this". But what is he wearing? What colour are his clothes? What is the colour of the ground? What direction is he looking at? Is the wind blowing in the background? Is the water moving or being still? And so on.
With some of the cards, like the chariot it ended up being about 2 pages.
It thought me to relate to symbols by breaking them down into smaller details and study those parts individually to get clues about the overall meaning.

I think you should do the same thing when scrying. Try to get one image and concentrate on that one has hard as you can and start writing down everything you can remember.
It takes a couple of weeks, but sooner or later you will start to establish a pattern. You might think of blue as the color of communication. or yellow being higher thoughts. Or something that makes sense to you.
Just keep observing and keep reporting and the system will start to come to you.
Don't get desperate if you don't understand something and you can't find the information about it. Instead think to yourself: What does this mean to me? Is there anything in my life that resembles this? If you went to the pond with your family as a kid seeing a duck might remind you of that, so for you ducks are a symbol of family.
Another person might only have seen ducks on TV so for them ducks are a symbol of something unattainably.
Or you can google it and come up with this explanation:
"The Duck is generally thought to be a symbol of resourcefulness. The duck has the ability to walk, swim, fly and 'duck' under the water to feed or hide from predators. In both Chinese and Japanese culture, the duck is a symbol of happiness and fidelity."



NOW, it is important to remember that scrying in itself is not about super focus on one image but to allow the images to flow. So you need to practice both. One 15 minute session when you are fully concentrated, and one 15 minute session when you are very relaxed.

It was your first time. Practice makes perfect. What is seen during scrying doesn't always have to make sense - today. It may not make sense for another 10 years.

If it's a message you're supposed to understand - you will.

I have a little Tarot Journal. I intend to study each card someday, right now I'm just focused on other things. I only covered the spreads, astrological meanings and colors.

You seem to know a good amount on this subject. Thank you.

I ended up using the dream dictionaries I have and I've come to some conclusions. Also a friend on FB assisted me.

But I've never tried a glass/crystal ball before so I'm still getting used to it.
