OTO

Post by CorpusSyntheticum »

Not sure which board this question is supposed to go in, so I apologize in advance. I am considering joining the OTO. I have talked to the encampment nearest to me, though I think they moved to another city. I have questions prior to petitioning to join though. My biggest question is in regards to degrees involving sex magick, particularly IX. I am wondering if the rites are performed symbolically, like the Gnostic Mass. Or, are people really having sex in the temple? I don't want to have sex with somebody really. If you have physical intercourse in the temple, do you have to bring your partner with you, or what? I really hope somebody could shed some light upon this for me. I want to be part of an esoteric social organisation, where I can fraternize with other like-minded people, and discuss magick. But I am nervous about the sex magick.

Hopefully you know this by now, but, there is no sex taking place at OTO meetings those practices are written about but not publicly performed for initiates. Don't worry no one expects you to undress. Even things like Golden Dawn magick and scrying are not performed, but it is a great resource for knowledge on these subjects.
