The Tarot Study Group

Post by Occult Forum Archive »

Original post: ~ Serenity ~

hi all,

A few months ago I set up a yahoogroup designed for people to discuss and study the Tarot, from beginners to old hands, and about 30 or so people joined. Now in the past six months I have had a great explosion of activity in my lifeand am not able to tend and nurture the list at all. The URL is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TarotStudy and I don't want to shut it down if anyone would like to take it over or moderate so it can start to grow. At the moment it's just stagnant and I can't see myself having any time open up soon to give it the energy it deserves.

Please let me know if anyone is interested in re-invigorating the group, and we can go from there.

hi Jen and persephone,

well, first of all Jen yahoogroups are very different from boards like OF. My largest yahoogroup is @400 people and I have three moderators but there is never anything for them to do other than approve new memberships. A yahoogroup of 37 people is no big deal at all. I'm on one group of almost 2000 people and I haven't seen a flame or a spammer in over a year. It depends on the topic and basic tenor of the board. On my groups, I just don't allow personal attacks, and the people who are drawn to my boards tend to be pretty well balanced adults who are there to learn, not argue. SO if you're interested in the tarot group, come on over. :) You can always just hang out there, no need to be a mod.

persephone I just approved your memberhsip. Check it out and if you want to moderate let me know.

I think we will try to start some basic study modules so everyone is on the same page to some extent. Ideally I'd like to have a board like this one with separate foums for different levels, different decks etc. But for now I don't have a lot of time so we'll see if things get busier in the group as it is. Thanks for your interest. :)

Hey Feranaja thanks for the invitation! I dont know much about yahoogroups. I have seen them around but never joined one. Sounds interesting. I sure would hate to see it get shut down. It would be a real shame.

I'll have to go to the library or use my mom's computer because yahoo doesn't always work with the browser I have.

Well DP I hope you can join us, it' s started to move along well...we are going through the MAjors one at a time, first as an overview and then in more detail; we're also discussing how to phrase questions for maximum benefit, and comparing spreads. I'm encouraging members to post the results of their daily exercises so we can all offer feedback.

I hope you can add your energy to the mix! :)

I have just submitted my application as a member! Darn, how come I didn't happen on this group before? Past tarot groups I've been in were so crowded, they sprouted individual cliques and an inpersonal air. I much prefer a smaller group: smaller classrooms tend to foster better learning, I think. :)
