Question for Enochian Magickians and Scholars

In my continuing research on Enochian magick I am looking for some rference sources. I am looking for any references in regards to the elemental attributions of the rows and columns of the watchtower squares.

I should state that I am interested primarily in the development of these attributions.

I have my own interpretations that I have been developing from Dee's work in relation to the Tablet of Union. I have unfortunately been hitting the same dead end for years now. I feel that I am much closer than ever to unlocking this, yet the "keystone" so to speak still eludes me.


Perhaps I am either too close to it or it or there is another perspective that might reveal something I have overlooked.


I am not going to mention what sources I have already examined or my present development so that it will not unduly influence what is presented here.


So, any historic or personal perspectives on how to attribute the elements to the rows and columns of the watchtowers will be greatly appreciated. If you do not feel comfortable posting any personal work in a public post feel free to PM me.

Since I am assuming you are investigating something more advanced than the Watchtower Tablets and their sub-quadrants, have you checked out (the late, great) Josh Norton's/Ben Rowe's paper on Enochian cacodemons and elemental attributions?

While this scratches along the surface of my query it is not really what I am looking for.

Each rank and file in the watchtowers is attributed to an element creating a cross grid of associations within each sub-tablet. These attributions are illustrated quite well in the truncated pyramids if you are familiar with those.

What I am looking for is the development of how each element has been attributed in this way.

If anybody has any insights they might have come upon in the exploration of theses watchtower associations I would be very happy to hear them.

I assume you've read "Enochian World of Alister Crowley"? This is the only book I have that gives a complete display of the truncated pyramids and their assigned planet/element to each square of the watchtowers. Unfortunately it dosn't mention how these attributions came about.

I was hoping that other insights no matter how seemingly insignifigant to others may trigger an insight that will help me unlock this last obstacle.

Btw, just a small point but should the A in Diarl be black and the L purple in your air tablet? And again in the water tablet the I in Xrinh, shouldn't this be black in keeping with the rest of your watchtower design?

If you mean the Linea Spiritis Sancti, Patris and Filii, I use the reformed tablet ( Tabula Recensa of 1587 ). It has been so long that I even looked at the original I am not sure if there is any difference in these lines. LOL.... now I will have to go dig up the two for for comparison.

This is a good thing. I like being stimulated to go back and reveiw. Very often something clicks that I may have missed before.

Yes, my minor, and some not so minor, alterations/modifications are built off of the Raphael tablet ( Tabula Recensa ). My major alterations are in the elemental attributions of the ranks and files and only minor alterations to the letters themselves*.

*Not fully represented here.
