Imperinomicon: When are the stars right?

Post by Occult Forum Archive »

I never learned astrology, but now I have a certain need for a part of the knowledge from it. When it states in the Imperinomicon pf a certain spirit:"In the twenty-first to twenty-seventh degrees the stars are right for Yak-Ishath" what is this about? How do I calculate when what is between the twenty-first and twenty-seventh degree? Basically how do I know when to call which entity?

Nox

P.S. Regarding the names of the hours ... I assumed that the third hour would be between 2am and 3am. Is this the way it is traditionally done?

This is not a book you should be summoning from. These are the Celestial times that these beings are strongest.

Yak-Ishath, is the God of the Breaking Dawn. If you try to summon him, I hope you were a narcoleptic beforehand... that or an insomniac

I am always amused when people state categorically that one SHOULD or SHOULD NOT do something or else. May I ask you why you say so: Do you have any experience with the system? And what will happen if I do summon these beings?

And, yess, I assumed that the degrees refered to times ... how do I figure out which time correspond to which degree was myc question.

Noxlux keep in touch with me concerning this manuscript O.K. I myself am basically in the same boat as you; that is my knowledge upon astrology is rather weak. I do find this grimoire interesting nonetheless, and I am attempting to make heads-or-tails of its content. I suppose the best person to talk to concerning this grimoire would be I AM himself. At least that's where I am going to start.

Different clestial constelations pass through different zones, changing degrees through the progression of time.... IE the use of astrological signals with a birth chart "On X day at X time, Mercury is passing in the 4th house 23.6 degrees by 47.5 degrees..."(Note, those numbers are arbitrary, if they have any meaning in reference to Mercury, then its some strange coincidence...) Has a lot to do with sabbaths of most older cultures...IE Druids, Egyptians, Various Native Tribes. But I'm no pro on the subject.

Ok, I will share what I have figured this far, with the big caveat that these are preliminary findings. and gottverdammt, my reference book about astrology is not available.

The talk about degrees made me draw a circle and place out the different signs according to their degrees. The result is sort of an alternative zodiak - slightly skewed in comparision to our own. Zodiac means stages of the sun's path through the heavens in 12 months
the signs are also resemblant to ours, but not quite the same.
I suspect that the (latin) letters in the outermost part of the circle give us the names of these astrological signs.

Now, regarding this talk about degrees - and mind you, I am not certain about this part, but if we take a look at where the sun stands today, for example at this site:

http://www.astrology.com/aboutastrology/transits/planetforecast/index.html

the sun stands (today) in 12 degrees leo,
to figure out what this means in absolute degrees we have a look at a conversion table, for example at this site:

http://www.skyscript.co.uk/ablong.html

we see here that leo 12 corresponds to 132 degrees in absolute terms.

However ... alhazred seems to say that "starting seven degrees from the Archers sign and proceeding deosil I shall work my way around the wheel of the zodiak"

archer=sagittarius

since the absolute degrees given above are 240 when sagitarrius is 0
we must deduct 270 (240+30) from the number of degrees we get by the above calculation.

132-270=222degrees

this means that today the stars are right for Mememyet Raha and her children ...

Ok, I am beginning to realize that I made a mistake placing this thread in this forum. Would it be possible for a moderator to move it to the astrology section, where perhaps someone would be able to catch my mistakes?

Edit: The outer names of the circle do not represent the twelwe astrological signs. The interested party may see the other thread about this.
