im wondeirng how effective they are in propducing results , like for protection etc. do some talismans have power in themselves as a result of being used for thousands of years. ??. and are there simple ways to charge any talisman that you may find.? ..

Okay, when I was dating this girl, who had no clue to magick, we 'consecrated' a certain wax talisman. I don't remember the specifics, but I was working with Hecate's Fountain at that point in time. And let's add; we were very happy with the results. Thanks.

Baz, yes . . . talismans can be very effective, particularly for protection (that may have been thier origin).
Yes, there is a certain amount of power in thier current of use.
You can "charge" them in fairly simple fashions. You can "charge" them in quite complex methods. To a degree, what you put in is what you get out.
Some traditional talismans also have traditional consecrations, "chargings". Although you could use any, the ones traditionally associated with a perticular talisman or a specific set or type of talismans would probably be recommended.
Perhaps if you can give a bit more detail about the particular seal and you background we can give additional feedback.
