Well it's been...christ knows how many months and i 've gone through five books and two binaural sets...tested them all dilligenty ..Got -eff- all out of it. So..I began reflecting on past feelings of borderline astral projection - they all set on when i was tired as hell and bored stupid. My line of thought leads me thusly:
'Deprave thyself of sleep and food'
So, hopefully i should be able to make the jump because i am growing verrrrrrrry tired of having failing AP attempts. Any input into this idea of mine? Has it worked for anyone else?

If you have supervision by qualified medical doctors, sure. If not, forget it.
Try sitting in a comfortable recliner, listeing to some dreamy music, in a closed, warm room. Read something almost boring. You'll find your breathing slowing down, getting very tired, barely being able to keep your eyes open.
You'll be drifting between wakedness and sleep, and if you notice you're in this state without exciting yourself you'll have ample time for experimentation. At some point you might suddenly feel like you're falling out of the chair, but that's your subtle body doing the falling and not your physical. If you dare let yourself fall, you might be able to make a conscious exit.
If you have trouble maintaining control of your mind, then Zazen is for you. This is the meditation of stilling one's toughts. You empty your mind with it.
It's a bit tedious at first, but you need to keep at it. You don't have to be sitting to practice Zazen (sitting zen), despite its name. - Notice your thoughts running wild, and dismiss them all, and you have practiced Zazen.
Zazen cultivates Joriki, 'mind power', and this helps you with projecting in several ways. The one you'll notice first is the control you have of your mind and how quickly you'll be able to relax because of it. - Add breathing excercises to this, and open your chakras using feeling (feeling, not emotion), and you'll be a long way down the road to projecting. After it comes dealing with hypnogogic imagery, but I don't have much advice here since I'm still experimenting.

My astral projections (though unintentional) all occurred after sleeping awhile first, waking up and talking with my guardian spirit (not that it's necessarily an important part but probably put me in a particular state of mind) until I was unable to fall back asleep; upon which I lied in bed awake for some time (though very tired) until finally involuntarily falling back asleep and at that moment is when it would happen.. Waking up in the night like that was was really more of a sleeping problem than anything, which I don't often have anymore.. don't know if it can be induced. But the sleeping thing, yes I'd say there's something to it. Starving yourself would probably just make you uncomfortable, try one thing at a time before both or it will be hard to draw any conclusions from the "experiment".

Perhaps you should stop "lusting after results" and leave yourself alone for a while. With the pressure to perform off, you might just surprise yourself.

You're just going to end up hallucinating.
Seriously, if you just do that you'll eventually have your wall telling you to "go to BED! BED! NOOOW!" and possibly the wall will call you a dumbass, lol... but that's just your slowly losing your mind, hehe...
And I agree with Mmothra. The greatest results I've seen are when people stop trying so hard when it comes to AP. Also it's not nessecary to lose control of your body to do it.

Hey, i fast a lot to detoxify my body and to sharpen my senses a bit, but obviously only for a few days at most drinking plenty of fluids during the process. I've spoken to a GP and a nutritionist. The GP said its okay as long as it's not a frequent thing or else i could damage my body, but i'll nonetheless take note.
