A while back I posted a thread about how auras are merely percieved, and not objectively real. I explained that with a type of auto-hypnosis exersize (programming as we technomages refer to it), involving taking a bunch of colors, and ascribing your own meaning to them, and "loading" them into your subconscious (psyche), you could begin seeing auras having the colors of the meanings you ascribed to them, not what someone else has done. Granted most of the "traditional" meanings are based off of the different sizes of the wavelengths of the colors of natural additive light, and so the lower vibrations being more "bad," and the higher more "good," or lower more earthy (less energetic), and the higher more heavenly (more energetic). Most use this system, as the traditional word aura, implies light, and so additive color, but this is totally optional.
The reason is that as I theorized before, auras have nothing to do with light, and everything to do with mental processes. Some scientists seem to agree;

Though, being a magician, I know better, than to purely think auric sight, is merely the brain interpreting subconsciously recieved (material body) signals as this above article proposes. Granted I do believe this is part of it, and alot of so called "psychic abilities," are very mundane and physical abilities, though abnormal obviously. On the other hand though many, like telekinesis, remote telepathy/empathy, (remote, as I do admit, that alot of telepathy/empathy where people are physically present to another, is probably just the result of becoming sensitive to the subtile body language of another, but obviously only a part of this ability can be dismissed as such), remote viewing, etc, are impossible to be described as some purely physical (mundane) feat.
Anyway though, the whole idea of a "subtile energy field," which surrounds a human body, is indeed true, though perhaps not to the extent alot of new age metaphysical theory, suggests. The energy around a human body, is quite natural (mundane, measurable via instruments), and has little to do with anything psychic. On the other hand, auras as a visually interpreted way of reading others, using definately hidden (unknown), and so occult, abilities, seems more likely the case for auric sight. It also explains why my technique, I posted before, of coming up with your own meanings for colors, and after programming your mind with them, auras actually appearing in the new color system, works.
All in all, I just found this article, and thought "holy shit, that explains it perfectly," and so thought I would share with you all the possible reasons for why my technique I posted before works.
Also as a side note, one thing the article left out which science itself knows via it's discoveries in neuroscience, is that an ability like auric sight (as aspect of Synaesthesia on the physical side, psychic on the psychological side), is that not only those born with the ability possess and can possess this ability. The reason being that through conditioning methods (techniques for developing auric sight), the neuro processes can be rewired in anybody. The result being Synaesthesia, weither auric sight, other forms of visual psychism (clairvoyance), clairaudience (healing information), clairsentience (feeling information, i.e. "energy"), etc, is available to us all (as most of us, magicians/psions already know
). Just as well it shows why carefully exersized ritualised drug use, can be a valid form of spiritual/psychic/magickal development (though this is optional and unneeded, and I don't go this route myself, though I respect others who do). Just as well, it shows how drug use for entertainment use (in most cases, especially with the hard types), is not only dangerous, but beyond stupid to another whole dimension. To me if this is true, this is just one step further to empirical science and occultism blending together, to show that everything from the world of physis (physical), to the world of psyche (spiritual, mystic, magickal, etc), is interlinked, inseperateable, and in essence all holy (one). There is no mundane, it's all magickal, I tell ya, from the cell to the servitor.
