A question concerning OBE...

I've been noticing more often a peculiar instance when I am getting ready to fall asleep at night or even sometimes when I meditate lying down.

I progress to a point of total relaxation of the body and I close my eyes... and after an indeterminable amount of time I'll start to feel a pulling sensation. This is followed by a clear image of my hands--even though I know I still have my eyes closed, I can see my hands plain as day. Sometimes I will see other things, but usually related to my body.

The thing is, once this feeling/image is achieved my cognizance takes over and my rational mind decides to start jotting down notes as if I would never see this again. Which--in effect--brings about an abrupt end to my experience.

My question: Is this a stepping stone to complete Out-of-Body experience?

Sinasbin,

When you see your hands, do you have any control over them? Can you open and close your fists or wiggle your fingers? When I have had OBE's, I've never fully pulled away from my body...I can get to the point where I detach albeit not fully. It's just enough that I can look around the room. At first, I would get excited or physically conscious; both of which snapped me right back into my body. The key is to relax and not attempt to exert control over what is happening. Sounds like you are on the right track.

Does anyone else have any experience in regards to OBE? More specifically in regards to the pragmatic steps taken to fully induce an OBE?
