Buy guns, enough to arm more then yourself, dont tell anyone they will turn you in later. If there is a national emergancey called and power is handed to Fema Gather supplies quickly, and do not follow any papers or orders to leave your house and go to designated areas for registration. Dont give up your firearms they dont do you any good then.

"But I have one idea that is even feasible: Someone could collect enough people skilled in weather-manipulation together, and then try to buy us more time by slowing the pace of global warming." i am skilled in weather munipulation (you can check my handy work in fairbanks, alaska weather records.) but i must reject on doing a world wide scale change (one, i have never attempted to, and porbably never will) i belive (know) that doing such a change can infact speed up the proccess of human extinction due to that fact we can not survive -200oF(C) and the ice age will also distroy the earth and then the earth will be renewed with those who did survive the ice age. and then life continues on from then. btw, what i am saying is taht if we did such a change in the earth's weather pattern, we will infact disrupt it so much we will being doing earth a bad thing instead of a good thing. ~Ranting....

I dare you to consider reasons why the world will not end any time soon.

I don't think you have the psychological flexibility to find strong evidence and arguments supporting a long continuation of the world.

It's a good thing to examine your filters every once and a while, keeps the flow smooth, you know?

I think people, especially in urban areas should learn basic survival skills. How to live off the land. Imagine if electricity was gone just like that. There would be chaos. Remember the power outage across the states and canada? This could very likely happen again.

Someone earlier wrote that we should stop dwelling on our negative thougths and focus on positive visions of the future... that is very true!

Many people have experienced the power of their thoughts and know that the true process of creation is in their hands. If micdeath can influence weather, then we can influence everything. Each person creates his reality through the throughts/emotions/ideas (looking for the right word) they support... could be thougths of fear, of love, of peace... On individual level I think we all understand that we have a fair degree of power to influence the cource of our lives and even some events around us.. but we also acknowledge that we cannot influence everything, and we are afraid of what the world can bring.

We forget though that the future of the world is created much in the same way as the future of an individual. The future of humanity is a manifestation of the collective futures of each human being. Makes for one confusing mix of energies, doesn't is? But you can almost think of it from the perspective of physics: in a finite space (earth) there are a finite number of energy charged particles (humans) each of which is moving in a seemingly random way (imagine the shifting of our emotions and dreams throughout our lifetimes). In this case it is the prevailing direction of the masses that will determine the cource of the motion of the "finite space - earth". By motion I don't mean just kinetic movement, but direction of spiritual development.

Now most humans are extremely unaware of their spiritual lives and thus are "sleepwalking" through life on earth. The few that are aware of their existence beyond the physical world find little support in everyday life and frequently loose focus or change direction. That's why our world feels stagnant, doomed, and just wrong.. we do need to change as humanity.. we need to grow out of this stage of "sleepwalking". We have finally managed to provide basic needs for survival for a large enough group and now the focus falls on our feelings/emotions/purposes/dreams... I also feel that change is coming. In a way it could be seen as the end of the world as we know it.. but every end is a new beginning.. and I think what will come can only be better. Afterall it will be what we all as humanity have collectively created.

Sorry for the babbling ... got inspired by this conversation :).

The Seeker walks amongst both sides,
Waiting for all three signs,
Rampage, pestilence, and famine,
These shall show the end for all mankind,
He's of neither sides persuasion,
He is the sole on alone,
He will make the final choice,
And in the end declare the winning side.
Have fun. ;)

Personally, I do think The Apocalypse of St. John is speaking about the events of today.
Revelation 6: 1 to 17: â??And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.

â??And I saw, and behold a white horse (the white race): and him that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him. and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.â?Â

the best advice as to understanding where my thoughts are comeing from is the comic book transmetropolitan It may sound crazy that I would suggest reading a comic but seriously the city and its people is nuts....but then again Im pretty ecsentric as it is so if you feel like just ignore me i will probably get bored and go away!

I don't know, THE INVISIBLES taught me a lot about so-called reality.

Anyways, here is a quote from Sri Maharaj Nisargadatta, a bidi chain-smoking Guru from India, for everyone that is worried about some big cataclysmic change:
Once you realize that the road is the goal and that you are
always on the road, not to reach a goal, but to enjoy its beauty
and its wisdom, life ceases to be a task and becomes natural
and simple, in itself an ecstasy.

To be fair, me and my group of "sensitive" have been trying to divine this for quite sometime, and strangely, our findings have been quite different... with impressions and dreams of light driving out the darkness of ignorance, freedom where there is suppression, each man and woman free to do hir Will. Uh oh, what will it be :)
America and its culture may be dieing
Don't worry there are enough people in Australia to keep American traditions & subculture going. If Johnnie has his way then we should all be speaking with the same accent & shopping at "The Gap" or "Walmart" by 2012's change for the world as it is known.

Mairu: If you're interested in the psychology of apocolyptic thoughts or religion check out this book, it is a good read & although it is written from a Christian perspective, it is easy to interpret the pure facts from this professor, rather than preaching about God all the time. The section I'm referring to is the Psychology of Religion:

Baker Encyclopedia Of Psychology- edited byDavid Benner

I tried finding the link for this book on the internet, though i only came across a re-edited version: http://www.bakerbookretail.com/shop/product.asp?p_key=0801021006

On a more serious note, if there is a way humanity will ever be saved again (highly doubtful, IMO it is pure egotism & denial of a dominant species looking for faith) then it could probably be by a collective amount of people. As for the end of people being around.....well humans won't have time to process it if it occurs quickly, it won't matter soon after anyway & why bother wasting time on the vulnerability of life, when it is our goal to strengthen it for the short time we are here?
The 2012 Mayan apocalypse theory coincides with the much older idea of geomagnetic pole shifts & the theorised reverse of the sun's magnetism which were last recorded to have occurred as early as 9500 BC, 8250 years before the Mayan culture emerged. If anything, the magnetism has increased activity over the last 500 years, re-alarming superstitious minds of the 2000 year reversal cycle. The Precision of the Equinoxes in 2000 could have occurred, but didn't seem to leave any obvious physical impressions on Earth. It looks like the 2012 apocalypse theory is to be publically countered by theories of Oct. 28 2011, the supposed correct date that marks the end of the Mayan calendar if calculating in Mayan Long Count. Funnily enough, the evidence of this theory is about as credible as asking a Mayan elder his age. Astronomers calculated that using long count, the calendar would have been due to end in 1998. Whatever it is, I think the key factors we started with & have progressed to focus on are the Earth, the Sun, Venus & its relation to the Earth in both historical science & mythology, astronomy is also a big factor involved in previous occurences of major changes to the Earth. On a completely different note, the meaning of the Mayan Calendar's end can be interpreted subjectively for major changes to the world as we know it & almost coincides with the proposed coming of the antichrist around approximately 2015.

Personally I think they all are too confident of theories. Simple theories which have been quashed before or occurred differently on many a different occasion. Each is as valid as the next but we don't know so we just have to wait.

The magnetic pole reversal takes thousands of years and won't cause any problems.

Darkshadow. What about us guys? You mean you women in the tubes are fighting this all alone.Go girl.Reminds me of that t.v show charmed or something.I am guessing you are wiccan.Nothing will ever end.It will only change as it always has. When you burn a piece of wood it does not mean it is gone.It simply changed forms. But if you want to waste your precious time here as a human with dreams of destruction and hopelessness, that is your choice. There is however(i believe)a magical war comeing to a front that can tilt the laws of balance and bring chaos. Then again this war has always been going on.So take your fill.

Sylvia Brown says 200 more years and then there will be nothing. (Personally, I don't know what to think...Kinda dont care actually. NOW is most important to me)

So its:

you vs. S.Brown vs. thousands of other opinions

doesn't really matter, I think..because if it matters that much to someone about the future ending...why do anything? What for? (but I guess it depends on your views of death, after death, etc.)

But if anyone cares to watch a program about "the end," The History Channel is showing a show about it ..tomorrow I think.
