I remembered these techniques from Astral Dynamics and have recently had a renewed interest. Robert Bruce claims that NEW can be used by itself or to compliment existing energetic practices, and recommends it as a prerequisite to his astral projection techniques. I have not personally used his techniques except a couple of times to achieve deep relaxation (which they work great for), but it seems very thorough, safe, and well put together to me. Does anyone here have any experiences using this system? If so what have been your results. I will be surprised if nobody has, as popular as Astral Dynamics seems to be.

well, i am reading it now.
but i have a question, has this system evolved from a simple form; like it started as an invention of Robert Bruce and become more sophisticated over time. or does this have some more traces back? at first glance i seem to recognize some of the stuff Leary and Wilson talk about.
to be more to the point: as this is presented as a system, how did it get into use?

I think he developed it himself from scratch.

N.E.W. is quite simple really. I have had great results with it. The basic premise follows the addage "Energy flows where attention gows". All you do is focus on the area of your body you wish to stimulate energetically. You can scratch, smack, slap, bite, whatever your fancy to get it going initially, but eventually all you have to do is focus. Good stuff..

I'll second that. Bruce's Astral Dynamics is one of the best books on energy work I've ever read. Extremely effective method. I personally think of it as an epic treatise on the alchemist's secret fire.

I recently read at his forums that he's restarted his work on a book devoted solely to N.E.W. It will be interesting to see how this develops. If his NEW book in any way approaches the quality of AD I will most certainly have to fork over the $.$$ to get it.

AD be berry berry good to me. Simple, concise, and effective. I have been a member at Astral Pulse for some time, and while it's even more crazy, divisive, and full of B.S. than OF, I learned much in my time there. The key now is to apply that knowledge...

Am I the only one who finds it disturbing to walk into a room and see a person
with a paintbrush on their hands, stroking some part of his body?
Heh.

I actually don't do the physical side of it.

Yeah, I scratched my wrist with a ruler a couple of times, but after that it's all mental. I should start practicing again.

I really don't understand what is so NEW about it. Yes I have read the book and yes I enjoyed it alot but I thought his energy work was a little over simplified. Oh course that might be the point. But if you are an old hat at such things as the middle pillar or something similar you just sort of scratch your head.

I think it's supposed to be a tad simplistic. He stays away from what he calls primary center work (referring to the seven major chakras) and only gives a brief mention of kundalini. From the Astral Pulse link above it seems he'll be dedicating future volumes to the more advanced NEW techniques. There is an extensive article on the his site detailing his energy healing method called "Healing With The Heart."

my experience with the NEW system has bee great! I now use it sometimes just for the hell of it when I want to do energy work alone (chakra work) and I use it before astral projection. Before I ever read Astral Dynamics my projections were pretty weak, I guess that would be the lack of energy? But since I started the NEW system my projections are longer and more powerful ... not to mention that using the system to stimulate chakras has made my exits faster.

I own the book and have follow the instructions, but all I got out of it was trance techinques. I practiced for almost a month with no success. I am just naturally inept at AP though, so I don't think it speak bad for his system. The rope technique and such never worked for me either, which I find very irritating considering the enormous amount of success others have had with it. I recently began to remploy the ideas in the book, but still no progress. The system itself is fine though, although it may be a little on simplified side.
