Wondering if anyone here has any advice, thoughts, experiances, etc. with using flying ointment as an aid for astral projection. Oh, and before anyone ask, I will not be using one with any ingredients that are toxic.

Well,

If its not one of the ones that has toxic stuff in it, you would be better off using plain water or anything for that matter because its all in your head. The toxic ones get their names because the ingredients are psychedelic in nature. Anything that isnt directly affecting your body relies on your beleif in it to make it work.
Now Im not saying to go out and find something with toxic materials in it, just that if you are paying for this 'flying ointment', your time and energy could be spent in a more constructive manner.

To the best of my knowledge, any kind of ointment like that is going to contain herbs with psychedelic properties. For instance one "flying ointment" that I've heard of is a salve made from jimson weed. Too much, and you'll be projecting permanently. But if it's non-toxic then it's pretty much useless for projecting. Your best bet is to attain the skill through practice. Check out these links.

Thanks for your advice everybody. I know nothing can replace practice (I'm currently working with Astral Dynamics by Robert Bruce), I was just looking for something to help me focus better.

I thought that was the whole point - if you don't believe in it, it isn't going to work ....

Someone once recommended being in close proximity or in contact with bismut (a metal) , but as I've never tried it myself I can't say if it helps.

This may be somewhat off-topic, but I'd like to point out that non-toxic compounds can contain psychoactives, and a salve that isn't psychoactive can still be toxic. While toxic substances often affect brain chemistry enough to noticably alter consciousness, toxicity is not a requirement for psychoactivity and vice versa.

However, in the case of datura/jimson weed mentioned above, toxicity and psychoativity most definitely go hand in hand... I'd tread very lightly and cautiously, here, if at all.

Thats interesting, I read that metals interfere with attempts at astral projection hence removing jewelry, etc. I'm going to have to look into that ....

Thanks for clearing that up, I said I wouldn't use anything toxic, I never said I wouldn't use any psychodelics. Even thou I will not use any psychodelics, I'd still be interested in hearing about such things.
