void?

long time ago i had this very powerfull experience, it felt like the whole universe violently collapsed to a single point within me, like a singularity, which was somewhere near solar plexus and heart area. once the universe had collapsed to a singularity, i was in this infinite empty black space that could be described as void. the space wasn't completely empty though, i saw what i would describe a golden seed in the distance, and for some reason i was sure it was me. after some time of floating there i noticed i wasn't breathing at all, this happened a long time ago and spontaniously, so i thought that if i didn't start breathing i would literally die as i understood it. so i forced myself to start breathing and slowly the singularity of me started expanding and after quite a long time of strugling the universe was back to its' normal size.
has anyone experinced anything similar to this or read a description of such a thing? i'd like to know what i missed out on.

It depends on how far you want the similarity to reach. I've never heard an account exactly like yours before, but I have heard of many encounters with voids. Personally, I've got experiences different from each other and yet the same, and related to yours.
You didn't miss out on anything, but rather gained a valuable experience.

I find it interesting that you felt you needed to breathe, or kick the bucket. Breath is symbolically related to movement, life.

well, my thought at the moment was i don't want to leave my family and friends yet, or stop doing the things i enjoy.
it happened long before i knew that a state like that could be something 'normal', and what i related it to in my mind at the moment was the stories of people found dead in their beds with no apparent reason for dying.
what i think would've been interesting to do was to go take a closer look at that seed i saw, i have the impression there was a shade of green to it too though i'm not sure, but this also happened before i knew how to fly.

Ah, so it did happend while you were in the astral.

If you are familiar with meditation and trance, you might be able to use your third eye to first see and then visit this...place, again. The method involves reaching a trance, and then bringing your memory of the experience to mind. At some point you should be able to 'see' it with your mind's eye, and project into the vision.

There are many people who have suddenly found themselves in a void while in the astral, but in what I read there was no mention of anyone finding anything there.

This seems to be common when astral projecting. As far as I know (could be wrong) it comes from a sudden disassociation from your physical body. As a side note, when I was younger I used to wake up in the middle of the night with sleep paralysis. I couldn't move any part of my body, and felt that I would suffocate if I didn't start breathing again. Now that I know how to use that paralysis for obes, it never happens. :-D
