I get right to the point. For those of you who have been looking for a sure, concrete method of achieving a trance or astral experience, here's something that may work. It's very simple. All you have to do is hyperventilate hard, for a long time. Note that you could faint from it, and discomfort could occur, but it is improbable that anything as serious as brain death or damage could occur. This method is one of the safest out there. Although if you have a heart condition, you probably shouldn't try it. Here's are some symptoms of hyperventilation I took from some website I don't remember. Most of it is crap but notice a few of the "symptoms".
"A feeling of being outside yourself "
"Seeing images that aren't there"
These both seem to be only a step away from projection or travel. Personally, I have not fully tried this method, but I will in the near future. What do you guys think
Hyperventilation Symptoms
Hyperventilation syndrome has 2 different forms, everyday and sudden. In its everyday form, the over-breathing may be hard to detect. The sudden form comes on rapidly and has more intense symptoms. People with this syndrome may have stomach, chest, nervous system, and emotional complaints.
Hyperventilation syndrome may result in swallowing excessive air. This results in the following abdominal complaints:
Bloating
Burping
Passing excess gas
Pressure sensation in the abdomen
Also, anxiety with increased air movement through the mouth can cause a dry mouth feeling.
Chemical changes can happen with over-breathing. Hyperventilation causes the carbon dioxide level in the blood to decrease. This lower level of carbon dioxide reduces blood flow to the brain, which may result in the following nervous system and emotional complaints:
Weakness
Fainting
Dizziness
Confusion
Agitation
A feeling of being outside yourself
Seeing images that aren't there
Feeling as if you can't breathe
Over-breathing can also cause the calcium levels to drop in your blood, which may result in the following nervous system complaints:
Numbness and tingling (usually in both arms or around the mouth)
Spasms or cramps of the hands and feet
Muscle twitching
Many different things can cause chest symptoms with hyperventilation syndrome. Normally, breathing is relaxed. If you over-breathe, the lungs become over-inflated. Without thinking about it, you might use your chest muscles to expand your rib cage. This extra muscle work will feel like shortness of breath, and you'll have difficulty in taking a deep breath. Your chest muscles will become tired, just like your legs tire after a long run. The lowered carbon dioxide levels in the blood can cause squeezing of the airways, which then results in wheezing. Hyperventilation syndrome may cause the following chest complaints:
Chest pains or tenderness
Shortness of breath
Wheezing
Your doctor will make sure that you aren't having a heart attack by considering the following:
Hyperventilation symptoms usually last longer (hours as opposed to minutes)
Hyperventilation symptoms usually happen in younger people
Hyperventilation symptoms usually get better with exercise
Hyperventilation pain will not be improved by heart medication
In very rare cases, people who hyperventilate can have lower carbon dioxide blood levels that can cause a spasm of the blood vessels that supply the heart. If you already have heart disease, this spasm may be enough to cause a heart attack.

It's been fairly clearly established that OBE are caused (some of the time) by lack of oxygen to the brain - one of the reasons people have them when they suffer from a nearly fatal accident.

I've finally gotten around to using this method, and here's what I found. It takes extreme patience as it is a very slow method. Other than that, it does not really provide a good vehicle for actual travel or projection, but it does enhance other meditations and techniques. I find it is very useful to use in conjunction with other methods.
EDIT: I find that this technique is extremely useful as a preparation for more active things. It really helps magic in general, by making the Second Attention far closer to one's primary focus.
