Don t forget that the native s name for it is devils weed.It has a very femine characteristics,
it can be nice to you,and you can think that you can do more of it,and that might be fatal.
Personaly I think that goes more with women than men.The time for it is in August,and only the one that you find it growing in water.
Had it many times in the past,smoked the seeds,or made a tea from it together with valerium so it grounds it.The paste as above mentioned is made only from the root,which is the most full of alcaloids,and apsorbing it can be very dangerous.I know someone who never came back from it.
Other thing is that sometimes this spirit doesn t wanna leave,so the presence is felt for days or months,and it carries a lot of wisdom,but in the same time it may not be a frendly spirit,so you never know.
If u try it,take the minimum,and make a protective circle.

The Datura spirit is definitely a strong female energy. She is not at all of the nurturing kind. She is tough and very powerful.

Personaly I think that goes more with women than men.

I've had pleasant interactions with the Datura spirit (outside of consuming the plant). I do think it's beneficial that any men who choose to work with her have a fair balance of male/female energy. She can be rough otherwise. At least, that's the impression I've gotten along with accounts I've read of other peoples' experiences.

A friend of mine learned this the hard way. After he formed a connection with her, his mother and girlfriend were plagued with nightmares. Eventually, he had to destroy all his plants and had someone cleanse his house of her presence. Things returned to normal.

I want to stress this again: I think it's best to not ingest Datura except in very small amounts to help form a link to her. It can still be a rewarding experience without the physical and mental dangers that come with ingestion.

The safest way I know to interact with datura is to use the fragrance of its flowers. I think that the datura has a stinky leaves and a sweet-smelling flower (towards evening the scent is released) because it is trying to guide us away from consuming it and towards breathing in its fragrance instead. In New Zealand, a relative of the datura, brugmansia, is grown, and a NZ friend told me that there people will deliberately sleep under a brugmansia in bloom in order to experience very vivid (and often nightmarish) dreams. I thought this sounded kooky at the time, but I checked with a plant toxicology site, the University of North Carolina poisonous plants site, and they do list the scent of these flowers as hallucinogenic. Also consider that smell connects directly to the brain.

With datura, you could go outside and sleep next to the plants on a warm night. I also met someone who grew one datura plant in a pot and brought it into her room at night when it began flowering in order for the fragrance to affect her dreams, which it sure did. This would be a safe method to work spiritually with this plant, although I think it would still be a good idea to have someone watch out for you when you are doing it. The nightmares can be horrific. Jim DeKorne in his book on working with psychoactive plants made the argument that people's experiences with this plant are often so negative because of the way this type of feminine divine (he cited Kali as an example) has been treated by our culture. I think that's a pretty interesting argument, but I also think that the plant, even though it obviously really really wants to grow around people and be with us, does not want to be eaten by us. Thus the flower scent. Although the scent of datura flowers can attract pollinating sphinx moths, this plant can reproduce without pollination. So the fragrance is a bonus that most likely has at least a dual purpose, one of which is, IMO, to attract human beings to interact with it.

Datura has a very seductive energy to it. You will most likely take notice when you pass one. Many people each year get hospitalized because they ate parts of the plant. Many of them had no idea what the plant was or how it'd effect them. With children it's usually the flowers, which might just mean that their intuition is strong enough to keep them away from the poisonous parts. I really don't know.

Working with the flower scent is a very good idea. Though I favor d. strammonium for growing, I think d. inoxia has a more fragrant flower. They definitely have a larger trumpet. I'm unfamiliar with any of the other species.

Has anyone got any good links or info on how to prepare datura? I would love to read all the different ways it could be used.

I have a very large tree like one in my backyard...she's huge! Ive always liked that tree because it towers over you when you stand under it and with the white angel flowers hanging down...its a nice plant...I always thought it had a very nice feel about it because the flowers look so angelic.

I would love to know alittle more about her...

btw the idea on the scent of the flowers is very interesting...I cant wait till she flowers again.

i will give you some hints based on my exp. with datura heh.
Take at least 3 days off from any activities (work, study), have a VERY comfortable place for your trip (you must feel 100% secure, no one or nothing can disrupt you). And having an experienced friend (experienced in taking this kind of things) is also a good idea, so he can help you if something bad would begin to happen.
Taking datura is a weird thing, but can be very good experience also

Datura is a very dangerous poisonous plant. Thousands of people are poisoned by it each year and have to go to the emergency room. Several die.

Please consider working with the less toxic plants instead of datura.

Well I tried my first cup of Brugmansia last night and it was pretty good...full on but nicer than anything man made. It made my eyesight very poor though where I could see objects but I couldnt read a thing...I had to use a kids telescope inorder to sms my girlfriend. lol I couldnt read the letters! lol I also couldnt walk...it was like I was really drunk.

I took it alone and Im glad I did cause I think I wouldve spun out too much with anyone else there unless they were on it too. I hallucinated heaps and kept thinking my son was home..I just kept looking and looking cause I would forget he was at his mums and I was seeing him running into other rooms only to get a fright when the room was empty..then I would rememebr where is really was...this happened many times though and I was truly fooled everytime.

Anyway...I only took ONE flower of the Brugmansia(the tree one) and cut it into 3 pieces which I placed in a saucepan with 1.5 cups of water. I let it boil for about 15 mins which made it a nice mug size drink in the end...which I filtered with a coffee plunger...I added some sugar and that was it. I drank it slowly.

I feel ok today but I have a hangover from it...oh and my eyes are still black and wide open as they do sometimes from these kinda drugs. It felt very trippy.

I just had to post again because this was such an eye opening and spiritual experience for me..

I had another cup about 24 hours later which was slightly less potent(I think)because I didnt add the very base of the flower that I had picked,I wanted to go slow cause I dont know what kinda of build up effect it has. So anyway it came on after mabey 20mins after slowly sipping it down. I knew because I couldnt walk again.. So I decided to just play an online game which after playing for awhile I noticed two points of light from the screen which was strange. As I looked deeper to the lights I saw that they were eyes..like a cat which I just excepted and looked at..After awhile I realised that those eyes were following my eyes as if they were my eyes..thats what it felt like but I knew they wernt. It was weird.

Anyway I was really tired at this stage and I decided to go to bed. I guess I fell asleep straight away but I do rememeber telling myself to remember I will be dreaming. The cross over from reality to dream was really cool because I felt it so easily. One second I was watching a large Chestia cat smiling at me from a distance..the next few seconds I was standing right infront of this big orange/white cat with a really big friendly smile.
At this point my 'saying' kicked in and I said 'thats right this is probably a dream ' so I decided to test my reality which all proved to me that this was no dream. I looked at some writing and looked again and it was the same..I also tried move my arm through the desk but it didnt go through. At this point I got confused and didnt know what to do. Thats all I rememeber then and I woke up very fast.

I got out of bed cause I couldnt go back to sleep..I was tossing and turning for awhile and had to get up. I looked at the time and it said 12:10 and I though WOW Ive slept for ages..this is great and I flung outta bed to ring my x to start planning my day. After having some kind of conversation where she mostly said 'what are you saying' or what are you doing' I said something how we gotta get ready cause its past 12 she said 'yeah its midnight you idoit' hahahahaha I felt like such a fool cause I had all my blinds down and I couldnt tell. Anyway wrapping it up...

I decided to drive to the beach at about 4am to watch the sunrise and I noticed a lady run really fast across the road..she had a purple ragged hippy skirt on and was bare foot. I watched her and then she faded when she hit the other side. I though wow but when I looked to where she had come from I realised I was passing though the grave yard thats on the main road. I didnt think anything of it, just that it was a cool hallucination. So on I went..
Further up way past the grave yard I then had a little boy with very short blond hair run out in front of me, I got a shock because I tapped my breaks to stop before I realised that he faded away too..it was like he faded slowly cause I didnt break much because I realised in a few seconds it was another vision. I looked where he had run from and there was a little white crucifix on the side of the road to show where an accident had been.

I should say here that I did feel capable to drive and I never drive drunk..I had control but just had the odd vision every now and then. So on I drove and I went past a homeless man sleeping in a bus shelter where as I got closer he faded too...I went past an old lady who walked really slowly and she actually gave me eye contact which FREAKED me out because then she faded as I hit her. Im not one to fear though cause I just yelled WOOHOO!!! cause it shocked me so much,it would be considered a scary thing from some horror movie but I dont give in to the fear if that makes sense. Just yell WOOHOO!! and try turning the fear into adrenelin. Try to love the fear anotherwords and enjoy.

Well I made it to the beach and had a wonderful walk while the sun rose. It was wonderful.
I think this plant is fantastic if used correctly. My advice would be to make sure you dont have fear in your heart when you take it..or make sure you can overpower your fear with faith when it comes. This made me feel very empowered and I enjoyed the wild ride.

To be really honest this was the most fun Ive had for ages..time is very hard to guess though because I dont know what I did with all those hours. I havent really slept in 48 hours now though and I still aint really that tired....

This stuff is the best...I picked a flower and drunk it. How easy is that! OMG I got a tree full of them...how do I say no now? The temptation is very high...I want one now just for fun but I gotta sleep,so I wont.

I'm sorry, but I can't help but say that is some of the most irresponsible behavior I've ever heard of to go driving after taking Datura. Do you know most accidents and deaths from this are because of driving and doing other stupid things while under the influence? You actually have a *child* and you behave this way? Unbelieveable.

I have to agree with Ludi. What you did was very irresponsible. Datura is not for fun. Keep using it as such and it will not go well. I highly recommend that anyone ingesting datura have a sitter with them. Not only to protect you from yourself, but to protect others from your actions.

Also, to ingest datura again so quickly is a very dangerous game. I warned that she is a seducer and you, my friend, have been seduced. Datura does not play nice. There is a reason I think of her as the Dark Mother. She will respect you if you can discipline yourself around her. If you can't... well, she'll have her fun at your expense. She won't care if you destroy yourself. Do your research and you'll quickly see that there are few who don't pay for their folly. Consume datura too often and you can suffer semi-permanent dementia for weeks or months. Now that you have actually ingested it, you should be able to link to her without actually ingesting her again. Sure, it won't be the same experience, but at least you will have your cognitive abilities in control. Well, as much as you normally would in everyday life.

I will share this with you to think on and do as you will with it. During one conversation I had with her, she refered to the majority of humans as cattle. She has a great disdain for the weak-minded who cannot think for themselves, and those who will not discipline themselves. Her seduction is a test. She doesn't grade on a curve. I went to a family birthday party and I was still under the influence but no-one could tell..they just said I was chatty. The start of datura is very much like Heroin and yes I wouldnt drive if I had just had a big shot of it...but awhile after I sure would cause the effects lessen. Same goes for datura.

I have read alot lately on Datura and it seems to show your fears in visions....If you dont have any fear then the experience is completely different. So dont give her a negitive name unless you wish her to be negative.

If her suduction is a test then I passed because I really really wanted to do it again last night but I didnt...now after a really good night sleep I dont have the want at all.

Im am not sure about having a sitter...If you dont have fear you dont need one....just dont have anything dangerous around you...put knives away...dont keep a bottle of mineral turps near the milk etc....prepare your area so it is a safe place. I think a sitter can only confuse you because you would have someone constantly telling you something along the lines of' nah man thats not real ' or ' your seeing stuff ..your crazy' etc.... I dont think that this would be a good thing to have during a trip...you see enough people around you while your on it...you dont the hassels of figuring out who is the real and who is not...my experience with acid is that its only good if everyone is on it...if half are on it and half are not then it brings down the acid. Im guessing it would be teh same.

I can see the good and the bad with a sitter though so yeah... personal choice.

Btw it also made my circulation run faster in my body which has actually made me feel healthier...my hands and feet are actually warm now.

I think it is important to hear the negative as well as the positive surrounding datura. None of what I read affected my experiences. Except for physical discomfort on the upswing, and some confusion while in the twilight phase of the downswing, my experience was not at all negative. Also, as you don't know me, I can see how you misunderstood my calling the spirit of datura the "Dark Mother". This has absolutely no negative connotation in my mind. I'm quite fond of her. actually. I always liked her energy. I would never connect her to light, though.

I don't think a lack of fear is good enough protection. Though I didn't do anything that would have hurt myself during my experience, my sitter steered me away from a few situations that I'm thankful for. One involved me sitting in front of a pair of my favorite plants with scissors, because I wanted to get rid of the giant slugs I saw eating them. I might have killed my little green friends instead. The choice of a sitter is an important one. Just as you pointed out, my sitter kept trying to bring me down to her experience which was frustrating for the both of us. I had warned her not to do that, but she did. Unfortunately, I had no other choices for a sitter. I still think it's good to have one, but it's best if the sitter keeps mostly to the sidelines, only stepping in when neccessary. As you know, it's very hard to tell determine the reality of what you see.

And I still say never drive under datura's influence. That is way too dangerous. If someone I knew was under datura's influence wanted to drive, I would chain them down if I thought it was the only way to stop them.

I understand why it was said but I cant help but get annoyed by it cause Im not a fool when it comes to knowing my limitations. Anyway no hard feelings Ludi....just know that my son is the most important person in my life and that I take offence very quickly when a comment like that is said without any knowledge of me at all. I know it wasnt the smartess thing to do but I had to get out of the house and I knew it had worn off enough to drive.
I didnt have anymore hallucinations except the few ghost I saw crossing the road......I actually truly think that these wernt hallucinations and that somehow Datura helped me to see that which isnt always seen. Next time I might drink it and hang around the grave yard.....WOOHOO!!!!

Anyway reading my experience should show you's what my biggest fear was......losing my son....I wouldnt do anything to risk harm to him and I wouldnt do anything to risk another child either. Basically I HONESTLY wouldnt of even attempted to drive if I thought it was going to be risky. It was a very smooth ride except for the ghosts.
Thats sounds dumb hey.:rolleyes: hehe anyway...points taken....next time I shall go for a walk instead.....I just had a craving to see the ocean.

What if one of the ghosts you saw had been a real person and you ran right through them because you thought they were a ghost? I dont think it was that risky...thats why I did it....it was just before dawn when NO_ONE is around...its not like I live in N.Y lolol Im in a quite area of Australia.....I have driven on everydrug but not during the peak of the drug...I know my limits.......you sound like my mother. :p

I do respect this plant more now because I have to admit its the most potent and full on drug Ive ever done....I have alot of experience and I can see how you couldnt do this one that often....I can still taste it when I have a cone of weed....it brings the speedy part of the trip back....Basically for a drug to give this kind of level of experience it has to be bad for you if used to often.

Does anybody actually know how long it takes for this drug to fully leave the system?

Symptoms can last for days, so I would guess several days. But because you are dealing with toxins which attack the brain stem, the part of your brain which runs your autonomic systems (heart, renal system, nervous system), you need to be especially careful not to overdose. So I would allow a good long time, a couple weeks at least to detox between experiments. I really can't stress enough how dangerous these toxins are. I suggest you do some more research into atropine and scopolamine, and see what you can find out about them regarding detox periods.
