i noticed that this forum lacks the sticky for posting info on good sources of information on paganism so i thought i would start one.

note a few rules slash guidelines.

dont post only a link as it puts people off. give a name and a short bit of info on it.

if posting about a book then give the name. name of the author and a short description.

if postink links for ebooks make sure it doesnt break copyright etc.

last but not least - happy posting all

This seems to be the most apt forum to post this link.

For those of us living within the Australasian area, here is a good activist site against animal cruelty. Its an eye opener, particuarly on the exportation industries. It is already highly known about such horrors, but this site shows the real footage that couldn't be viewed or published within the media.
Howard is announcing the federal election date this weekend & this site is trying to use that to the advantage that votes will be lost due to the inhumane exportation incidents between Australia & foreign countries (most publically broadcasted- Kuwait 2002).

Federal election candidates are being pushed to incorporate the issue into their political agendas & help end live exportation of animals. The site will distribute cd -rom's, bumper stickers & postcards to aid in the end of these vicious, inhumane acts.

http://www.asatru.org

The official website for the Asatru Alliance, this is one of the best Asatru sites around. They have tips on starting Asatru Kindreds and becoming a gothi or gythia as well as on-line copies of The Havamal (the ethics of Asatru) and The Voluspa.

http://www.geocites.com/rokkrx/rokkr.html

This site is about the Rokkr, called the Jotuns in Norse Mythology. It showcases Hela, Loki, Jormangund, Surtr, Fenriz, Angerboda, and Nidhogg, It goes more into what these deities represent. Awesome site.

http://www.northvegr.org

Lots of infromation here on all things Norse, both historical and mythological. There's a forum too, but the admin is extreamly dogmatic in her religious views, so if you don't agree with her, don't bother posting much as she will delete your posts.

On most of them the general topic of the suggested book should be obvious. The search itself has BOOK highlighted so you should be able to spot them with relative ease. I may have overlooked a few suggestions and I have left a few duplicate suggestions out, so if you are looking for references to a specific book I suggest that you SEARCH for it by title or author.

Books on Druidism (Reconstructionist)
"The Druids" by Peter Berresford Ellis - Excellent book about the druids. Worth it's weight in gold
"The Apple Branch" by Alexi Kondratiev Celtic Reconstruction with a workable system.

Celtic Reconstructionist websites
www.imbas.org the essays here are priceless, (especially "What we don't know about the Ancient Celts.")
www.druidry.org (the links are of more use than the site in my opinion, but they have a lot of good links)

Norse Reconstructionist/Asatru
www.irminsul.org a very comprehensive site with lots of info.
www.angelfire.com/on/Wodensharrow/asatro.html Excellent online shrine to the Allfather
http://www.webcom.com/~lstead/ Raven Kindred. Check out the Ravenbok and the essays.

This site goes to Valkyrias Vevside (Valkyrie Website). Its in Swedish and is about the Northern pagan folklore, Asatru of the Valkyries. If you don't understand Swedish then it's okay because you can browse the site on the left panel buttons and look at some nice images here:

This forum seems to be sadly lacking in suggestions for links and reading material. Here's a few suggestions for Pagan books that you might want to read.

Modern Druidry
The Rebirth of Druidry by Philip Carr-Gomm
Druidcraft by Philip Carr-Gomm
Living Druidry by Emma Restall Orr

Celtic Religion
The World of the Druids by Miranda Green
The Gods of the Celts by Miranda Green
The Celts by Peter Berresford Ellis (like Lunukaos, I consider this one excellent)
Dictionary of Celtic Mythology by Peter Berresford Ellis

Celtic and Scandanavian
Myths and Symbols in Pagan Europe by H.R. Ellis Davidson

Norse
The Prose Edda by Snorri Sturluson, translated by Jean I. Young
The Poetic Edda, translated by Lee M. Hollander
The Norse Myths - Gods of the Vikings by Kevin Crossley Holland

Runes
Northern Mysteries & Magic by Freya Aswynn

Wiccan/Witchcraft
Witchcraft for Tomorrow by Doreen Valiente
What Witches Do by Stuart Farrar
Natural Magic by Marian Green
Natural Witchcraft by Marian Green
Wheel of the Year by Teresa Moorey and Jane Brideson
Progressive Witchcraft by Janet Farrar and Gavin Bone
The Magical Temple by Michael Kearton
A Witch's Book of Divination by Callia Underhill

Other Pagan Books I Like
The Ancient Mysteries, A Sourcebook by Marvin W. Meyers
Wylundt's Book of Incense by Steven R. Smith
The Prediction Book of Amulets and Talismans
Crystal Ball Gazing by Uma Silbey
A Complete Guide to the Tarot by Eden Gray
Principles of Colour Healing by Ambika Wauters and Gerry Thompson
Candle Power by Cassandra Eason

And finally, the Beginner's Guide series of books are quite small and cheap, but just full of practical information, some of which can be used in advanced magic, despite the title of the series. A few of these excellent little books are:

A Beginner's Guide, Spells & Rituals by Teresa Moorey
A Beginner's Guide, Crystal Healing by Roger C. Croxson
Astral Projection, a beginner's guide by Richard Craze
Shamanism, a beginner's guide by Teresa Moorey
Herbs for Magic and Ritual, a beginner's guide by Teresa Moorey

Sorry, my bad. Everyone should read Dreaming the Dark. And for anyone who's interested in generic Pagan witchcraft, The Spiral Dance is a very good book. It seems to be especially popular with wymyn.

I just noticed that I put Eden Gray's book on Tarot under the heading of Other Pagan Books That I Like. I'm not sure he'd be amused by that.
