I Ching is one method

One can find a US$30 version of the "I Ching", the Chinese classic, The Oracle of Change, through Amazon.com for $3 plus shipping. 900 pages of possibilities.
There is a woman in Vermont, on the internet whom sells bundles of Yarrow stalks specifically for use in "reads". It is a matter of dividing the bundle repeatedly to generate one of sixty four "Hexagrams", which are the response.
Yarrow according to sources including the literature of the Bach Flower Remedies company (Rescue Remedy) absorbs negative emotions.
It really is worth going to the trouble to acquire Yarrow stalks, though coin method is possible, for accuracy in reporting.
It takes time to formulate a question, sometimes a whole season.
The question is "Is it an auspicious time to pursue a particular course of action?
There is a problem with the 900 page version, where the 64 Hexagrams are defined; Most of the indications are symbolic. (Chinese symbolism of nature).
I use "Chinese symbolism and Art Motifs" by C.A.S. Williams for clarification. Try a larger library before deciding on a purchase.
It does make for a good plain old read, too.
It is not that you won't understand your corresponding Hexagram without it, just a portion of it, due to their emphasis on symbolism.
If one comes up with a meaningful question, the read can be invaluable.
And rock stars in the sixties used to do it (seriously).
Trying to find an Oracle outside of China whom would pay attention to you is low on the possibility scale.
As is the price they actually command (thousands of dollars).
It was for most of its' history, available only to royalty.
It was for royalty alone for thousands of years.
Can a billion Chinese be trusted?
Now one can have repeated goes at it for fifty dollars total, all that is required is trust in generating by dividing, one to sixty four Hexagrams.
The Chinese say, can you guarantee an arbitrary accident will not occur? Is that random?
Whether to pursue it is of course up to the individual.
Harvard U did a whole course on it for a few years. With their own two volume translation.
It is the first oracle.
of divination.
Keep good company.

I use the I Ching on occasion. I mostly use a book translated into Norwegian. It is named just I Ching. I do not know what version it is. Various versions I suspect give more or less details in the descriptions of what the various symbols means.
