As it appears with everyone else, Venus told me about this site. I'm glad someplace better has opened up than OF.net to try to fill the shoes of OF.com.

However, if you start scamming people out of their money like them, there will be hell to pay.

That aside, I look forward to seeing how this place progresses.

I'm not sure how the scam works... you join for free, you can post for free, you can pm for free, you can email for free (as you're doing here).. Like many websites there is a donation section, if you dont feel like giving any money then you dont... It's the same with anything in life with a price tag... With .NET you atleast get to use the service at no cost.
There is the "schooling" section that has a price tag, I've got no idea how indepth it is or what the tutoring is like, but that is also optional.

Which part of the scam am I missing? I don't know their history of what went bad but have seen in passing something negative.

Ruby, there is no particular Ethos required to being a practitioner, and everyone is entitled to their views, but to voice them I ask that they provide evidence to back up their claims and theories, as with any other statements made.

Also, please do not belittle other members, especially after making a claim about how they should be acting.

Lastly, Vinn, please do not insinuate that we're a knockoff of the last incarnation of the occultforums website. This is it's reincarnation, simple as that.

Edit: The above post to which this was primarily a response to has been deleted as with the ban of the poster, due to ToU violations, namely harassment and the impersonation of other members through multiple accounts.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be so insulting. I'm simply skeptical with everything that's happened since OF.com closed down.

Enlilki, I don't know what if anything has changed since I went there a month or two ago, but their "Welcome" email consisted of two parts, "Welcome to OF.net" and "Give us money". Their -monthly- donation goal is 600 USD. If you know anything about the cost of running a forum, this is a ridiculous -yearly- goal, forget -monthly-. Yes, the "schooling" section has a price tag, which I am not against... if it weren't for the fact that their "school" was nothing more than wikipedia articles that have been copy-pasted and passed off as their own material. They even closed down their private messaging system so that none of their members could be informed of such.

And don't even get me started on Lady Dunsany.

Oh. And apparently disagreeing with the administration on OF.net about occult subjects is a bannable offense. Making for not an actual "forum" in the first place, but simply an outlet for Lady Dunsany to press her views on others.

Sorry. That turned out to be a rant.

If it's any consolation Vin, it's obvious you have reason for it. The (banned)poster who made such a fuss over your opinion went on to impersonate you by creating multiple accounts using your name. Beyond that, the IP address of the poster matched a user from League's website who had been banned for doing the exact same thing.

On behalf of occultforum.com, will everyone please try not to bring this sort of thing to our boards? I know sometimes it can't be helped... could there be some sort of spray developed for it? Perhaps Dr. Steel make some sort of troll and drama repellent?

Meh. I wouldn't be surprised if he came here for the sole reason of harassing me. Probably won't be the last either, but they don't seem to be very good at trolling so far.
