What ever happened to OccultForums.com?

So what happened to Occultforums.org, why did it suddenly go down without a warning? I mean if Eric planned to take the site off line would he not have given some waring about it first so pepole could copy posts they particulary liked or agreed on methods to contact friends on the forum or something like that. Was the forum hacked or did the servers go down? And why was it never brought online again?

I think Eric got tired of it, but he hasn't been available for comment for quite some time. He's stopped answering emails, just completely dropped off the map. Not sure what happened.

Basically, he stopped paying to keep it running. It wasn't hacked, just dropped really. The admin responsible for actually running the forum engine gave me part of the latest backup he could find, and here we are.

I'll be sure to post an update as soon as I know any more, but basically that's all I know

Ok thank you for the information. I still think he should have given some prior notice before just closing the forum down. I had many contacts on the forum, and it is hard to find a way to reach them now. And besides many pepole got emotionally attached to the forum, it would have been nice to be able to say goodbye to it, and besides if he had given some prior notice perhaps some way to continue to keep it up could have been found.

That's really all anyone knows. Eric has gone completely incognito. I hope he is ok and something hasn't happened to him.

I haven't heard any more than any of the rest of you. I didn't actually know Eric, so have no guesses as to why the site went down... but I'm still sad that it did, and all the trouble that has resulted in the surrounding communities.

Hopefully this place will help take care of that.

Yeah, not we only need to get the old OccultForums.com members over to this forum and we will be back on track again. We just have to spread the word.

I know Eric and im sure he had his reasons, him and me had a good friendship over the years with our 2 sites. I was just as shocked it went down, but there must have been a reason for it. Eric never was one to run and hide, something is certainly not right with it, so my guess it wasnt his choice in how it went down so quick.

Funny thing is, I didnt know that this site was going to try to rebuild or replace (or whatever phrase you would like to use)occultforums.com until AFTER I joined. I had an account with the old OF back in the day when I was still exploring paganism and then it was all lost when it got hacked. I ended up getting a new acount down the line but again the site was hacked. At that point a said screw it and never signed back up. Ive been spending my time over at occultcorpus and then I found this site a few days ago

Yeah. The site getting hacked for the third time in a row (by the same guy) was what seemed to get Eric so damn tired of rebuilding. Shame, really, and some of us are still looking for that cracker so's we can give him some personal lessons in physical injury magics.

league, you can use your friendship with Eric to get OF restored. OF.org is no replacement for OF.com.
Post Script : It seems OF got hacked. Many of my latter posts over there with durki as username are not to be found in the archives over here.

I think they managed to get some of the posts over here, but the others may not be available.

I think Tom and others would like to find out what happened .... but no one can get hold of Eric...he's not responding to many, if any.

The archives end at October 28th 2008, no backup was found later than this date.

As Shaam has said, Eric seems to have disappeared, nobody has heard from him in almost six months now

Sadly though, I think that it's quite a dead situation... OF people have scattered all around rather than waiting for OF.com to run again... If it's going to be up again, you have a tough situation "recollecting" them... Tougher than making this forum THE OF...

Maybe the best would be to merge the few big forums where the members fled, and create the largest forum on occultism... but this is just my fantasy...

From the grapevine, that's been mentioned off and on, however, may be wishful thinking. Occultists have a way of not wanting to work together well most of the time. I believe it's a issue of 'control', and/or 'trust'....lol.

If Eric was so buddy buddy with you, then why didn't he reinstate your account when you got banned from OF for leaching members from the intro area? How does your "friend" feel about you leeching his members to your site via PM?

So that is what happened? OccultForums got hacked? Again. If so then yes good luck and finding the one that must not be mentioned and showing him a little Voodoo loving.

As for merging of forums. I seriously do not think it is going to happen, everyone will want to be the one in control, and some of the forums have far to different types of leadership. Like Occultforums.net where a mod got ballistic on me because I politely explained that blood magick was a common practice and did not involve human or animal sacrifice. Over there what they care about is not having a good forum but keeping it decent in case any 12 year old should drop by and after all every 12 year old die on the spot if they read about someone pricking their finger to add a bit of blood to the paint of their runes or imagine the horror if the occult kiddies should hear words like damned or fuck or shit, then they will explode. Can you imagine such a forum doing very well merged with this one?

That being said if we want some life into this forum, we have to work for it, add the forum's address to your blogs and websites, post here and post allot, tell your friends about this forum and add the address to the forum to your tag line on other forums where allowed to do so. We need the forum to seam active and as many people as possible to hear about it if we want it to be big.

Have anyone heard from Eric by the way, do anyone know if he is okey?

Tom, no offence, but there are people who were closer to Eric, and i think he s not responding to them either.

I found this site because Venefica kindly posted that it was up,along with the OF Archives,on other sites I visit.

I 'm sure I 'm not alone,in saying that I was watching,waiting and hoping that the OF archives would be saved.
