Wonderful. I love online auctions, I can find so much unusual stuff or get things far cheaper than in the stores. I am sure that a occult themed online auction would be allot of fun.

Does anybody else think that the Occultforums symbol would make a good ring or pin? Maybe the Moderators could look into the possibility of getting some made for sale?

It could be nice yes, though making jewelery to order is expensive, however if it could be done in so small qunateties that the site would not have to take a chance of allot of expensive jewelery not being sold, it would definitely be nice.

I'd definitely buy one. I like the idea of being able to identify other members on sight. A sort of membership badge almost.

One problem I have with Witch Market is that it seam none of the sellers ship outside of USA. I went into the site trying to find something not to expensive just to check the site out, but everything I considered buying the seller only shipped to USA. It seam the sellers on this site have forgotten that there is a world outside USA's borders. Come on, there is not that much problems in sending something to another nation. It involves either looking at a shipping cost table or just asking at the post office what it will cost to ship to the location in question, most shipping services also have flat rate options for international shipments. Now when I could not find anything I wanted which was shipped outside USA I went around the site and looked at various auctions and in fact no auction I look at at all shipped internationally. There might be some I missed, I did not look at every item on the site, but I was not able to find one single item which was shipped outside of USA. Quite disappointing as such specialty sites can be very useful. Now I can not speak for American buyers, the site might be great for them. But I can not recommend Witch Auctions to pepole outside of USA, there is just nothing there for us. It is a shame, it is disappointing but as of now Witch Auctions is a Americas only site. :(

Had a look at it myself and like you was pretty unimpressed by the fact that they dont ship outside USof A. Maybe we should start our own European based one.Is there nothing like this outside of America? If not I'm surprised. Would have thought that somebody would have gotten one organised before now.

A European one would be amazing, but I have no idea how one make or run such an auction site. But if someone started it up I would love to join.

I am sure that there are sellers who ship outside of the USA if you contact them and tell them where you want it shipped, most only list the USA price because they dont want to sell outside of the us, but i ship all of my items internationally both from my website and at witch market. so you would have to ask the sellers if they are interested in doing trade outside of US borders. this means that you may get a better deal than you expected.

I mail internationally all the time but larger packages are an issue both in time and cost. the average time for a package to be sent to australia from florida is about 6 weeks. It cost me 39.86$ to send a 3 lb package from florida to australia last week. that is a lot of cash just for a basic priority mail rate! Add on to this the duties and taxes and customs cost for importing merchandise that the customer has to pay on their end just to pick up the package. imagine if it was with UPS or fedex, the charge would have been at least $50.00.... (maybe now you see why some don't even bother shopping or selling outside of the US!)

For maybe less than 100$ you can probably find a program that does auctions. all you need is a .com name
(like occult-auctions.com!) and a place to host the program. And some knowledge about PHP/HTML and knowledge about auction selling and buying. And some money for advertising.

It takes both time and money to get things from USA, and the time vary ALLOT I have had things get here from the States in five days and I have had packages take over two months, that is a part of buying things internationally and something pepole are generally aware of. Shipping is a bitch, but what can you do.

Now asking a seller is fine and dandy, and I do that on ebay now and again, but it would have to be something special as it often takes time to get a response and then a bit of chatting back and forth, not that I am opposed to that if I am looking for something special but if all I want ti a cheap bundle of incense then it just get more easy to find someone who ship to Norway with no fuss, it is often also rather difficult to make such deals when one first get to a site, when one have accumulated some feedback so a seller can see that you are trustworthy they are usually okey with shipping to other nations, but when you are new to a site, sellers tend to be understandably skeptical.

I understand this from the perspective of an American, however for us here in Norway where selection of certain things is rather limited, such shipping costs are something we are willing to pay. Americans have the selection right at their doorstep, but for me here in Norway paying 50 bucks to have something I just can not find in stores here is worth it, and besides with the enormous taxes and huge prices in Norway it usually do not get much more expensive than buying a similar item in Norway. And shipping and handling is something usually the buyer pays so the seller do not loose anything with having the option for international shipment available.

Exactly!! I am surprised that customers are willing to pay the shipping charge but they really have no choice sometimes, especially with anything in the occult that is rare to find. the items are hard to find and its not surprising that most of it is sold through the USA. so i can definitely understand where you are coming from. about 1/3 of my customers are from overseas.

sometimes it cost more to ship from the usa to canada than it would to send the same item from US to britan. lol!!

btw, a pack of 25 stick incense at 3 ounces shipped to norway would cost not even $2.92 with the right kind of postage..with priority mail it costs 28$. Flat-rate is 13$. they all arrive at about the same rate of time, even within the USA. but they don't tell you that at the post office of course.

Not more? Not bad not bad.

it stand to reason Norway would have less selection than USA, we have ca four and a half million inhabitants in our whole nation, there are many American cities which have more pepole in one city than in whole of Norway, importing and selling things few pepole have a interest in is not profitable here, where in USA even if it is a specialty item which few would have interest of, that few is far, far more pepole than here in Norway.

Hi there,

I recently receiver an email from the owner of Witchmarket.com who wanted to clarify the postage situation on this one:
The main topic is my members not shipping outside the US. What they were probably trying to purchase was "MY" items as a seller, as I do not ship outside the US for one reason only. I live on the very top of a mountain and it's a 60 mile trip to the post office. All items shipped outside the US must be shipped directly from the post office and since 9-11 any item 13 oz. or more also must be shipped directly from the post office. I ship products from the three auction sites that I own daily but from my mail box. With gas prices over 4.00 a gallon and a 60 mile trip every day it would not be profitable for me personally to ship outside the US. I would be spending 25.00 a day in gas (that's what it cost for me to go down the mountain to town) but also 2 hours on the road everyday. If I calculated the wear and tear on my car and the cost of gas no one would be able to afford my products.

I personally have over 1000 items listed on each of my sites so I am sure that the lady trying to find something that would be shipped outside the US was just unfortunate enough to hit all my items. Never the less I have many sellers on all three sites that are more than willing and more than able too ship out of the country as they live in areas that they have access to the postal service and advertise in their listings that they will ship Internationally.

Please tell your people to give us a try again as the site has grown since they left their remarks in 2010 and we are growing in leaps and bounds as we speak because eBay, and etsy have banned Pagan products being sold on their sites effective the 30th of this month. Pagan sellers and buyers are flooding to my sites as they need a new home. eBay and etsy doesn't want us and are kicking us out.
