Confused

Post by mog-gway »

Hi I was Mog-Gway at "occultforums.com" before it got hacked some years ago. When I realized that the old community was no more then I got confused. I wandered around all confused for years. Because I didn't know where to find trustworthy information about where to go next.

Then I watched these 3 episodes of "Paranormal State" today and it sparked my interest again:

[ul]
* First Contact
* I am six
* Return of six[/ul]

So I decided to find the people who helped me once at "occultforums.com" and get back in touch again with the community.

Anyhow it wasn't easy to find my way here. When I googled "occultforums" then this site got ranked as number 3 so I thought it was a phony copy.
So I registered with the number 1 ranking "occultforums.net" instead since there were WAAAY more members over there than here. But then I did a search by fluke by googling "occultforums.com" and found this little hidden page.
What happened to Occult forums ( occultforums.com ) and when?
For all those who miss the old www.occultforums.com, we have brought
online a new forum, and hope to see many of the old faces there again.
Please visit www.occultforum.org but note you will need to make a new
account, as it is not the same website, despite having all of the old
posts... and please don't steal the usernames of old posters or
moderators, but on the same note, don't worry about your name too
much, there are only so many combinations of letters.

On a final note, the reason for the change of name is because of
unscrupulous individuals buying out similar domain names, in order to
rake in money, due to the high google ranking of the domain name.
Be
very wary of any website which contains the occultforum or
occultforums domain name, as they are NOT affiliated with ourselves or
the old owners of OccultForums in any way shape or form, despite what
any appearances may show. In all likelihood, they're just out to make
a buck off of you, either directly, or through hits to advertisements
on their websites, just like the doppelgangers of every other website
on the internet once it gets a certain number of hits.
Sorry for the long boring post I just wanted to inform old "occultforums.com" users about this hidden piece of information that took me years to find. Since this website didn't seem to say anything about this matter for newcomers.

Hello and welcome,again.:cool:

The other forum you've mentioned is familiar to a few of us here,already,lol.I shouldn't really comment as it 's not good netiquette to bitch about a poor quality forum on another,better forum,lol....Oops.

Hello and thanks.

Well when I did my poor detective work before choosing which OF was the right one. I chose the .net one at first and registered. But then as I was about to do my first introduction post over there, something didn't feel right.

And I googled once I again for past information and then I found that Google - alt.magick thread which seemed more genuine than anything else that I have encountered in the past.

Right should be right you know, and the number 1 ranking .net domain didn't feel right to me. I think it's time for the old OF to reclaim its rightful throne again. The old community has been divided and diluted too much because of that opportunist hacker back then. That's my personal narrow minded opinion, I don't know all the facts yet.

Yeh,I 'm post hack,so there's lots I don't know about it all,but the name Fatcat got talked about a lot,I do remember that much.

"I think it's time for the old OF to reclaim its rightful throne again."

I 'd love that too.It was a great melting pot of a place,much more open and forthright than any other forum I'd seen.

I enjoyed the wide variety of views and paradigms that folk shared there.I learned so much from it.

I have a crazy idea (it's my specialty) :D Can't the owners and moderators of Occultforum.org and OccultCorpus.com tell all its veteran members with blogs, to blog about the Fatcat incident and talk about what OF was before and what it became after?
To set the record straight for newcomers who never experienced the good old OF.

The mods should rally everybody to blog about the Fatcat incident at the exact same time! That is Halloween October 31'st.
That should send a surge to the google search algorithm to set the record straight once and for all.

I want my lost mentors back! :(
