Paedophilia is raging like wild fire in East as well as West. Many men prefer young boys to beautiful girls. I am not sure whether it is beneficial to the world.

It's not beneficial to anybody.

I think,it seems a lot more prevalent,but we are out in the open about it these days.It was always around though,just hushed up a lot better,back in the so called 'good old' days,when children and poor folk had little to no rights at all.

I 'm not so knowledgable about the Eastern problems,but here,well, the Catholic church is the one making most of the headlins atm.

I have read that many priests in the churches are paedophiles. Pope does take action against them when it is brought to his notice.

Well that's what happens when old conservative organizations like the church cling onto old beliefs from the middle ages refusing to evolve at the same pace as daily life society.

Makes it a perfect place for pedophiles to hide away from society. The Pope or its associates have known of 10-30 year old cases like these but never took action until the public found out. That's how a conservative middle ages organization operates.

If you do like the police and use murder profiles to understand serial killers. Then you could use profiles to understand how pedophiles think.

defo not benefical to humankind, my stance on any child-molester is this, their mind-set is about feeling power over a child, because they lack as a male or female, the ablity or indeed confidance, to enter the sexual arena with an adult .
my remedy for such depraved people, is strip them naked, dip them in honey, bury them feet first in a live ant hill, preferably they will die slowly

Do not forget that not only men are pedophiles.There have been pedophiles for all times, it is a sexual deviation one is born with, the problem is that in our days of the internet it is all to easy for those who are born with this deviation who chooses to live it out to share images and contact others. As for the Catholic Church, they have fallen into the trap of valuing political power over human concerns.

the pope never did before it became publically known and disallowed.....and he only does now because of that one fact and money, eventhough he has allowed it prior to his poopacy even if only because he sent many to "just another church to prey"

All religions have instigated this trash, and all societies have purposefully turned a blind eye to it even if only for those "in power" or upon seats of power

I hate this subject, but without people like you bringing it to the limelight within every possible genre more and more children would remain trashed by it.......thank you for the post, Soham.......but I'd truely love to offer solutions to it (like NOT having to shut up about what should happen to even a minor first offender)

sorry, went against too many of them.........male and female both..family friend and stranger to the children all...............

I think one should be very careful with saying all and every and generalize. You say all religious set money over people and would allow pedophilia, do this include religious such as Wicca? for I can not really see that happening. The point is that when an organization get to powerful such as the Catholic Church there is a good chance that power will corrupt. There is much good in the Catholic Church but far to many in power in it are more concerned with keeping power than to protect people. It is not that pedophilia is accepted in the Catholic Church, it is that when it happens the Church have tried to discretely handle things internally instead of doing the right thing and reporting it to the police. And they have done this just to avoid a scandal so they would not loose power.

Venefica, I do fully appreciate that the advents of all religions in fact abhore pedophilia...well, almost all since the highly few have basis toward this act in history...it is still all led by men and women who devise their own theories; thus, at least in what I have seen of humanity, all relgions, somehow, find a way to turn a blind eye to it in their leaders and brokers and charges (we who are to teach our younger generations). I will fully admit that I have seen the dregs of societies and religions far too often in my life...and that stinks (to use a family oriented word)...while also seeing many many more good quality normal people just refusing to open eyes to trash. Sometimes I wish I could see as they, but (to paraphrase an old quote) "For evil to win, it takes only one to not Stand against it". As for the lighter Wicca religion? Time, only, can tell...it is a new religion, but based upon teachings by those such as Crowley (I know this will tick a lot of quality folks off, but that is the fact of "religion".)...but any religion that allows free nudity of children does invite those few creeps to surround slowly. With each turn of the great wheel, and with each new leader, priest, or priestess, comes another op for growth, death, trash, or treasure (as within all religions and societies). Paganism is ancient, but is chocked full of wrongs on many levels by its abusers as well. Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, and all other god or goddess (male or female dominated) based religions have also felt the hand of evil, sadly. I guess I have seen more than I planned on when asking for knowledge so long ago...LOL

Monetary? Yes, of the earth or gods based religions, Wicca is the least likely to be pushed by that...and yet, to look into covens shows the greater of they who sit at head are more often than not also the greater of influence due to money and societal positioning...(another fact that people will grump at me for)....also a standard reality in 100% of the religions.

Heck, I am Pagan...ex Baptist, Mormon, Nazarite, Non-Denom, Pentecost, Wiccan, etc...even preacher and priest on differing levels than most.....and I am not so blind as to Not notice the good and value in religions...nor the nastiness of humanity

"Generalizations" are 100% dangerous...so, sadly, is its opposite

I fully agree with your stance...for the "most part" it's grand.....as well as what you see occuring within any organization that grows too large and influential.

I agree that Paedophilia can occur in any given religion, but in all my years apon the path [as pagan] and the hundreds of wiccans ive known i have never heard one whisper, of children being abused by a wiccan
that is quite an accompishment, given the time scrope, and given the fact that most every other religion, has encountered this problem !
of course i could be proven wrong one day, you never know, but given what ive learned about the wiccan religion, a true wiccan would certainly not have the mindset of a Paedophilia, its just not in their nature .
i do agree with Venefica , that such warped people are born with that sexual deviation , for whatever reason they are void of any ethics ,mercy, or the ablity of feeling the pain they inflict on their victims .
they are simply unable to have sexual relations on an adult to adult basis, its useually a sexual flaw in their makeup !
i showed neither any mercy or compassion to the male that abused my grandson, as he showed my angel none, i take no prisoners, in my darker nature, and no mercy should be shown to any such person [my viewpoint] !

Pedophilia can happen in every religion, or among Atheists, it can happen in every group. However most religions would not turn a blind eye to it if it was proven. However far to many people, both parents and society leaders do not believe children when they say they have been abused. Many parents would rather believe their priest, or their neighbor or their relative when their child claim they have been abused and so the whole thing is ignored. This however have little to do with religion, it have to do with a to extreme respect for authority.

In the Protestant Church for example if it is discovered that a priest have abused anyone, child or adult they are reported to the authorities and will most likely be thrown out of the Church. I can not imagine Wiccans to cover up pedophilia, or Shintoists or most religions for that matter. The problem is often the parents who do not wish to make waves. When I was a little girl I had a teacher who would come into the girl's locker room when we where naked. A few parents complained, but most just excused it as the teacher not thinking and just wanting to make sure we got out before the bell rang. It is a bit strange through that he would come into the girl's locker room almost every time if all it was down to was not thinking.

As for nudity in Wicca, are we to be completely prisoner to the few creeps that are out there. Off course one have to be careful. But to say that Wicca would accept pedophile because some Wiccan groups have nude rituals is a little silly. Also one should not turn a blind eye to the evils of the world, however it is equally as wrong to pour (if you excuse the expression) a bucket of shit over ones head so all one see is shit no matter where one look. 99 percent of religious practice is positive, joyous and do not support pedophilia, abuse or anything else of the sort. One should be alert for the remaining one percent but not let that color one's view completely.
