Why worship Satan?
Why worship Satan?
Many people both religious and secular wonder why a person would want to worship Satan.Given the prevailing world-view on Satan,it is a fair question. The answer is simple--to those that worship Him,Satan is a just and mighty god,who is in tune with nature and truly understands man,the animal. There are no "commandments" in Satanism, nor rules, nor all-pervasive prompts to "do the right thing".All that Satan requires is loyalty to Him,that and to be responsible for one's own actions. But true loyalty and responsibility are more than many people can handle.Satan accepts humanity for what it is,and does not expect people to "attain enlightenment and reach a higher level".People turn to Satanism because it is an honest religion, which realistically views the world and its inhabitants.Human nature has not changed in thousands of years;indeed,it will not change. Those that accept this truth are those that embrace Satan. In order for people to be all they can be,they must see themselves for what they are---animals with big brains.Satan embraces the animalistic side in people, and this embrace is unique in the world pantheon.Satan has been around for millenia, and has influenced human behaviour from the beginning of mankind. Why worship Satan? Because He understands us,He influences us,and He helps those who serve Him.

Why worship Satan?
outstanding post. i have always wondered about this. however...
what about the thoughts that WE the humans are god. god is man, man is god. i ask very respectfully, if you appreciate satan for his(silly pronoun, i know) understanding of mankind and his might, then surely mankind is even better! so why have an external god at all?
now i know there are different types of thought as far as satanism goes, so please don't let my ignorance be my downfall
i'm trying to move past my ignorance.

Katheytez, thanks for the input.I believe that man,in his current physical state,is not,nor is capable of being a god.My definition of a god is a being that cannot die.Since people can die, they are not gods. Now what happens after death who can say? If there is an afterlife, perhaps we will be gods then. Why have an external god? I believe the gods exist, whether we acknowledge them or not.I feel it is better to align oneself with a god,as he may help out in this life(and possibly the next).Like I always say---ignore the gods at your own peril. My god of choice is Satan, and He blesses me often. If I were to do without Satan,or any god,and be an atheist,I would have only one thing to put my faith in :humanity. And I do not have much faith in humanity.

i do not personally have the same perspective as you, but if i had the same beliefs as everyone else, life would be no fun and i wouldn't learn anything
my "belief system" is monotheism. i am very much hindu as i believe that we are shards of god experiencing himself. in that respect, i agree with you that we are not god realized... yet. in a way you and I are both looking at the same back yard, but through different windows of the house.
i also believe that it is important to align yourself with a god... but again with the window analogy, you acknowledge and worship an external god while i try to recognize the dormant god within myself. this is more of a gnostic thing (gnostics and satanists seem to be very parallel by the way... at least in my current understanding).
as for satan, i admit, i only have the archetype that was given to me by my christian roots... and very admittedly, it isn't helpful in an attempt to have a greater understanding
can you please assist me in this fault by telling me about your god from your perspective personally? if i am right thus far, satan is a god that understands the plight of human kind... mainly our base instincts. i'm not sure if the demiurge has any role in your system, but if so, the demiurge seeks to control us while satan seeks to set us free (again, a commonality between gnostics and satanists) i've read your first post and understand what satans role is... but what is he like. for instance, does the term benevolence fit in at all?
and finally, thank you for your conversing thus far. if there is one evil that i fear, it is stagnation.

Katheytez, As far as Satan being benevolent,I would say He helps those who support Him;anyone else would be helped or not depending on circumstance.I do not believe Satan is the epitomy of everything evil. But evil,of course,is an opinion.Satan is representative of darkness,death,destruction....but these are merely part of the whole, the flip side if you will. There cannot be light without dark, nor day without night. For me,the dark realities of life and death warrant more attention than the happy, cuddly ,ridiculous promises of weak gods and their followers.
