distinguishing 2 runes
distinguishing 2 runes
I am trying to get a clearer sense of how the meanings Eihwaz S and Berkana B are different. I am just not getting the distinction between the two meanings I have tried my rune fonts, but they don't work here. Both words mean to have a new beginning.

Berkana is the Rune of burgeoning, growth spurts and new life, born again like plants in Springtime.
I think it is the 'beginning or first growth' one as the Birch is said to get it 's leaf buds earlier than other trees, that's off the top of my head though and subject to verification later, lol.
Eihwas is the Rune of the Yew tree and it is an undying tree, this ties in with the energy of this rune,it is of both life and death and the transition between them.It can represent liminality also.It is a rune of endurance.Ancestral forces are at work in this one,I have this rune as a tattoo,as it holds a special significance for me,personally.
I think it is more of continuation and transformation than beginnings per se,but that is purely my own experience.

Thanks i think that clears it up somewhat for me, I think I have all the others "hammered down and concise". My next big project is to study the Tarot, I'm studying a book on the tarot called "Keys to the Supernal". Its a shame runes fonts don't work on this site. Anyway if anyone wants to see my list of concise runes definitions, I can PM an MS Word document of them
