Afterlife?

Post by SolarFlea »

I want to inquire , do you believe in an afterlife, an inherent "soul". I do not believe in reincarnation , or that a human has a sou,l or ethereal essence . I do not rule out the concept of a magickian forcing a continued non-corporeal existence. I find it highly unlikely, but anyone familiar with Heisenberg Uncertainty Principal may be able to see where I am coming from. What we think must be true even based on observation, examination, and the application of scientific method , and even established laws goes all to hell at the subatomic level. This does not render science useless , it only means laws are only applicable in their "jurisdiction" if you will. We are learning at an exponential rate in our own time, it is an astounding time to be alive, we are very fortunate. I would very much like to hear all your toughs on the matter.

Well, I personally believe, for elegance' sake, that there is in fact one set of governing laws that effect everything harmoniously from the subatomic level, to the cosmic one, but that we have not yet identified them. I also believe that many of these laws allow for greater flexibility of possibility than our current scientific ones, making magic and reality "glitches" possible.

In terms of an afterlife, the jury is out. I believe in ghosts, I think, and I have encountered decent anecdotal evidence of reincarnation. And I have psychosomatic sensations that confirm that my soul exists. I also have some kind of psycho-energetic mix up myself where I carry around strong reptilian instincts, behaviors and oddities and a phantom body that is more dinosaur than anything else.

However, I use the term "believe" very lightly, as any proper chaote should. XD I tend to agree with those statements above and think they are "real" and "true" but I am not so strongly convicted about it that I would be surprised to find it false. Well, except for the reptile bit, only because it is a constant element of my experience. More likely than not, I have a neurological misfiring and a vivid imagination, but I choose to think of myself as reptilian.

And frankly, I hope we don't figure out anything profound of that nature in my lifetime, because I like to pretend that only I have the secret. XD

I am just beginning in my occult practice, but the after life goes beyond what I can conceive of. At times I feel just so overwhelmed with the complexities of the present. In terms of believing, this is an independent action of the mind, so as Reptilian expressed I am also careful with any action performed by the mind. Lose primary control of the mind, and I believe (lol) very little can be understood. The action of believing, is the opposite to perceptive experimentation, the world requires us at different times to go back and forth between the two.

Science still applies to to the realms humans fail to measure with it.It's like physics.Physics on land is what most humans are used to but dive underwater and everything you knew about it changes. That does not make physics non applicable there , no it merely expresses them differently.

Personally I can attest to the existence of an "afterlife" if you call it but as with most human terminology I hate the implications of the word. When you can see something , touch it , hear it and interact with it you generally accept it as something that does indeed exist.Unfortunately for you all the universe is a far more complex place than that. There exists things that by technical definition do not exist and yet they remain staring you in the face and taunting what you define as real.If you wish to give yourself a harsh scientific slap in the face I advise you to do a little research into something called Antimatter. It's existence kind of slaps the definition of existence in the face.

I don't feel like opening up and pouring into an explanation of multidimensional spacial physics and explanation of the process of "soul" so I shall leave my statement at this.

I'm going to delete the other version of this topic in Off Topic Occult.
As the Question has been answered here,we are leaving this one up. [thumbup]

For me,rhyme and reason are entwined and today's Magick is often considered tomorrow's Science.

We are creatures with imagination, how do you quantify that, down into a scientific basis,is it chemicals? Merely a horomonal impetus?

Mind is what brain does?

Perhaps it is,but it still gives us the ability to fly, inside our minds and to connect with others in a way that scientific explanations alone sometimes cannot provide.

We are more than the sum of our parts.
