Dream of Odin

Post by WildWise14 »

Has anyone here had a dream with a god in it? One of those seemingly more "real" dreams, like it was real? I dreamed of a sort of Odin/ Wizard/ Gandalf type character when I was 19. I don't remember any serious details. He had long white hair/ beard and a cloak. I don't remember if he was missing an eye, smoking a pipe, etc... He spoke to me but I couldn't hear him. He chuckled and disappeared. I remember being very afraid. I've ALWAYS loved Norse Myth. I just have never figured this dream out. Anyone wanna chime in?

There's not much to work on,except your fear and inability to hear his speech.Perhaps that was the message in the dream?

You might need to connect a bit more and lose some of your fear to be able to 'hear' him?

There are many entities described everywhere with all of the people describing a different aspect of them besides one or two aspects who seem to be common sense to everyone so it's kinda hard to judge what you see and try to compare it to some book or internet is sometimes irrelevant.
I actually laugh sometimes about how descriptions of some beings are total innacurate .. even tho entities can appear in different forms.

I agree with what nahemah said but i understand it's kinda hard sometimes to control yourself when your dreaming takes practice but it's the only way to take full advantage of the situation.

About your doubts using my personal experience sometimes in your dreams when you have this kind of encounters you can actually hear the name of the entity on your mind even tho your dreaming and when you wake up you simply know who it was even tho you weren't formally introduced.

I don't know why people post on this forum, I am not sure what kind of insight we need from each other, but I assume we want company and want reassurance that somehow this stuff can be real and make us really cool.

I have had dreams of gods, but I think there are different forms. Say, we interact with archetypes all the time in our daily lives, in victoria secret magazines, think geek super geeks, football athletes, even things that are not directly humyn/animal that relate to our regular life, such as memes. These rerepresentations in our dreams are meaningful, but the power is as drifting as daily life. the archetype for the wizard for many is the gandalf kind and its a part of our collective psyche, but I am not sure if it needs to have meaning. I feel unless we do regular dream analysis our conscious mind will not seek to find meanings in our dreams. (unless its really vivid and we wake up remembering it when otherwise we would not. probably because our subconscious mind needs us to remember).

the question i am wondering is what you want from this dream, what this part of yourself wants you to remember and know.
