I work Shamanically and it's just as magickal as any other form,so that part of your post confuses me soig. You don't need to be versed in Chaos magick or Ceremonialism to be part of this,a wilingness to join in and help is what matters most. [thumbup]

Welcome Soig!
I am a familiar with the kind of shamanic work you describe and have no doubt there will be much you can bring to the table (and I don't mean Americano coffee!).
My background is not Chaos Magick either but at this point in my journey am finding the sigil/servitor techniques very useful and empowering!
SOI? Statement of Intent. I suppose it could be described as a sentence that describes what you are trying to achieve with the working/an affirmation too. I am sure someone else will come up with a better definition!

Re: Big Magical Projects
As I started working on it I resisted the temptation to embellish it with all kinds of stuff, like the bones becoming forks, as I felt it had to be as simple as possible to have the most impact.
It would have the slogan "REJECT JUNK FOODS!"
What also came up for me was that the skull should like it is actually constructed with the logos rather than the logos just looking as though they are stuck on. Is there a Graphic Designer/Cartoonist in the house?
I am wondering however, whether whatever we come up with finally will just be a symbolic representation of this image so maybe I don't need to get hung up on how artistic it looks.
Both our responses were valid, Nahemah!

Re: Big Magical Projects
Is it cool to add some other images that relate to this? I thought I 'd show some I like and maybe we could bounce a few around. The skull is almost universally,if not completely ,recognisable worldwide,so that's good.
I think the companies shown might be a little litigious about image hijacking,if they spot it going on.I wonder if that would help or hinder?
Might be worth paying attention to and counting that into the intent/active working.Just a thought.

Mr.Yuk,a kiddie warning sign? Lotsa wiggle room on this one.

I love red against green, visually speaking, this is the chemical weapon sign, lol.Weapon of mass distraction...

Re: Big Magical Projects
Some good ideas coming into the mix! Fantastic!!
Just been doing some heavy duty brainstorming on this.
Some thoughts:-
Maybe, when we have the symbol with the logos on (whether skull or something else) we then reduce it in size so that to the conscious mind it is a blot or dot. This dot would then just be part of the main sigil. Would that work?
Is REJECT JUNK FOOD a positive statement?
Maybe the SOI merely needs to be CHOOSE HEALTHY FOOD AND EXERCISE. That implies rejection of the crap stuff!

Re: Big Magical Projects
'Choose healthy food and exercise' would be a better SOI as its more positive and affirming. The picture could be reduced down, but would work also if it were completely sigilised and included with the SOI - its much of a muchness really. The question is really going to be do you want people to be able to read your message or do you just want a sigil that goes in to their subconscious and activates?Albion wrote: Is REJECT JUNK FOOD a positive statement?

People read information about what is good for them and, for many reasons, ignore it.
Is zapping straight into the subconscious likely to be more effective?

Oh gods, yes - absolutely. Plus, you dont have to worry about people getting on your back for copyright infringements. I reckon we sigilise the finished image and then broadcast it in every manner we can, through glitterbombs to mass media to social networking - everywhere we can put it.Albion wrote:Is zapping straight into the subconscious likely to be more effective?
Re: Big Magical Projects
I think we have just about cracked this!
I vote for SOI "Choose healthy food and exercise".
As it implies rejection of the crap then perhaps we don't need the skull.
So sigil could be derived just from "Choose healthy food and exercise".
In my view the sigil needs to be dead simple so it can be easily and quickly chalked/sprayed etc. (like the LS for instance)
What does everybody think?
Of course if someone wants to add REJECT JUNK FOOD when they are posting etc then that should be fine. Even the skull I guess!
Opinions please

Re: Big Magical Projects
I've been lurking on this Thread for a bit, not really feeling as though I had anything particularly inspired to contribute.
However, I do think that "Choose healthy food and exercise" is generally a way more positive statement,
and I always feel that, to a degree, I get an energetic return from whatever Effort I put out.
Also, maybe it's because at my advanced age I still skateboard, but I think stickers would be really cool for this;
one can smack 'em up everywhere.

Re: Big Magical Projects
While I understand why you guys want an empowering message for the sigil, I , for one, will not avoid junk food except out of sheer horror and revulsion and I can think of many people who are the same. Because of this, I still think it would be most effective to create a visceral "this is toxic" impression surrounding the junk food.
Also, diabetes and heart disease are not just conditions that people deal with (though 100% of the people around me seem to think so), they are terrifying, life threatening problems that systematically destroy the integrity of organs and organ systems.
So, maybe I'll be alone in this approach but I definitely plan on making people terrified of fast food. The empowering element is still important, but, IMHO, another, fear/disgust based message is absolutely essential. The same idea applies in revolutionary and progressive politics: a positive and peaceful resistance is likely to fail without an aggressive counterpart to scare people into action.
I don't believe in karma, so if I've got to do this part alone, that's fine by me, but I just wanted to make that point.
Also, no progress on the images yet, because I've been a bit sick and have been too wrapped up in school to do magic.

Re: Big Magical Projects
Okay, so how, in practical terms, would you achieve the two pronged approach of empowerment towards the good stuff and fear of the crap?
Two sigils?
A kind of double header sigil?
How would that work?
I'm up for considering all options at this point in time. If we are going to all this trouble I for one want the most effective message to be used!

Re: Big Magical Projects
Definitely two sigils.
One should be spread in such a way to directly connect w/ McD's and others, either by placing the sigil within line of sight in physical locations, or by associating both the sigil and the logo on the internet, etc. Once we've agreed on a sigil design, I'll also paint it on a poster or two and take it down to the occupy protest so I can get it into the local newspaper and television stations.
The second empowering sigil should be as ubiquitous as possible. We should be devoting the majority of the effort toward getting this sigil EVERYWHERE and spreading that feeling of "body as a temple" to everyone that stumbles across it. I think high traffic areas, especially bus stations, government offices, courthouses, taxi pick up zones, and anywhere where people are likely to be hungry and feeling disempowered should be major targets.
I can use my tumblr, twitter, wordpress and facebook toward these ends, and, if there are any hackers in the house or people who can donate a few bucks toward ad banners, we can get it into other sites as well.
Now if I can just come up with some designs. XD

@reptilian,I share your viewpoint,so I 'm keen to work on the anti message most. [thumbup]
I think two sigils is a very workable idea and I will happily disseminate both, but I 'd like to focus my own efforts on the anti one more as I feel it suits my skills and temperament, atm.I got metric tonnes of rage going on,lol. [greensmile]

Re: Big Magical Projects
I like the one on the right more, though I think it would look better with thicker lines for the main branches. Im really impressed with how much time and energy youre putting into this too, by the way - I sort of thought this whole project was going to fizzle out, but its gone from strength to strength. Very nice work, Albion.
Re: Big Magical Projects
Thanks, Case. Yes, this thing is sucking quite a bit of energy which I should be using elsewhere really BUT I do feel passionate about what we are trying to do, so it's energy well spent!
Okay then, mate. Why not take the design you are drawn to and give it the Case treatment then throw it back into the mix and then we'll see what happens!

Re: Big Magical Projects
Nah, like I said; I think youve got a good sigil there with the one on the right, it just needs thicker lines to give it more body and it will be perfect I reckon. Plus I dont have a digital camera at the moment or a good drawing program either, so I dont really have any way to contribute an image to this.Albion wrote:Thanks, Case. Simplicity is the key, but you also have to sigilise the SOI correctly to get the message across. The sigil on the left is too sparse, but the one on the right is very good. Try drawing it again with thicker lines, maybe more compact and chunky, and I reckon youll have a winner.

Will other folks get a go with it too? Co-designing is important,I think, for group efforts like this,is it not?Okay then, mate. Why not take the design you are drawn to and give it the Case treatment then throw it back into the mix and then we'll see what happens!

Re: Big Magical Projects
Couldn't agree more!
In my view the more of us who contribute to the design the more powerful it's going to be!
So how about Case doing something with my initial drawing then it's passed on as I suggested in my previous post ie throwing it back into the mix?
Let's not forget the other sigil too. Was that something Reptilian was coming up with initially?

Re: Big Magical Projects
I cant do anything with the sigil other than offer advice because I dont have the technology to get the image on to the forum. My contribution is therefore to make the lines much thicker and the whole sigil chunkier rather than just a line drawing.Albion wrote: So how about Case doing something with my initial drawing then it's passed on as I suggested in my previous post ie throwing it back into the mix?

Thanks, Case, that's fine!
Can whoever next has a go at the sigil please incorporate case's suggestion.

Re: Big Magical Projects
I intend to work on both sigils, so I'll take that suggestion into consideration, but I'm a bit swamped right now, and magic is second priority. I will get to it as soon as I can.
