Some questions on the nature of purpose which I hope will illuminate my understanding and that of interested others:
If we have some inclination as to our True Will (life purpose, part of God's plan, etc.) what methods are there so that we can test it? If we feel a draw towards an area where we feel the reason we are here will be fulfilled, how can we know this to be true and not mere delusion? When we walk the path that is ours can we expect spiritual help or do we toil without sense of direction?
Realisation of True Will
Re: Realisation of True Will
Ok . Lets start by saying that if you doubt it, then most likely you haven't hit the mark. I personally see this from an 'Illumination' perspective primarily. If you had achieved adeptship then the light would be on your path and you can see the grand task ahead- and the struggles you had to endure to get there. For me it was a distinct experience. This will be a huge change in consciousness that you will not miss.
No there is no test, however, the fact that you doubt gives it away. Union with your inner self will give you a different perspective and allow you to see higher forces. Take it like this, when the light is turned on- what becomes obvious.?
One of the reasons why it is suggested that Initiates do much ceremonial practice and meditation and study is to develope whats called 'magickal tools'. These will become very handy when(if) you achieve enlightenment.
It is suggested you lust not for result and work hard, with yourself, and magick in general with the aim of achieving this important experience. There are many people who are doing their true will, however do not have the magickal skills to notice it and effectively deal with the higher energies. You probably would have mentioned them if you had achieved it.
To me my true will is actually an inner process, a union of forces that lie inside the mind of god. The true will is a working that is over many lifetimes- not actually something like' delivering the milk' or in my case scaffolding etc. Here in lies a common trap. IMO. Just because you are doing your true will doesn't mean you are going to change the wolrd, but most likely change the universe secretly- from hidden corners.
Read more, try Crowley, oh and don't forget Eckart Toll. When i read his work it reminded my of my experiences seriously.

Re: Realisation of True Will
Q789 answered your question with wisdom & eloquence. Consider his advice well. I'd like to add that you must keep in mind that Truth and Will are not the same thing. The world is sadly filled with people who cripple themselves spiritually wasting valuable time & energy on beliefs they wish to be true. Maturity and an open mind about things are your best tools when intuiting the energies and identifying your true purpose or "Will." Remember that there is a difference from the way things are and the way we would like them to be. Avoid being too attached to any viewpoint or belief. Clinging to things when it's time to grow will only hold you back. Be patient, work diligently on developing wisdom, and be willing to move forward. Have faith in your own abilities and remember that pain and loss are our best allies toward spiriual growth. The energies will not make choices for you. The true path to freedom lies in making choices for yourself and being mature enough to embrace accountability for your choices. Life is not supposed to be easy. It's your one shot to be YOU before your consciousness goes dark and disburses back to the cosmic ether. Don't fuck it up by becoming a materialistic lapdog or intellectual puppet.

Re: Realisation of True Will
The fatalistic view tends to hold that True Will is inescapable; You're never not enacting it. Though, I think a lot of people are unwilling to believe there is no free will. The idea of fate/destiny seems limiting, but that likely stems from a fear of not having direct control over the self. If you choose to believe in fate(arguably synonymous with will), then logically there is nothing to fear as the future is unavoidable.

In Diary of a Drug Fiend, Crowley proposes retirement : to live any time in retirement, somewhere where there is nothing to do, no distraction, nothing... With time, you will find yourself.
2. Provoked illumination
...with a strong, well-prepared divination ritual. If you are beginning, the first method is better.
3. Observation
The Dalaï Lama simply proposes to observe what makes oneself happy, then strive toward it ; and to observe what makes one unhappy, and avoid it. Its crazy how much we actively do things that makes us unhappy when we are actively observing ourselves. It might also be a way to progressively find one's will.
4. Reasoning, then by guess and mistake
Also : don't look for a will whose objective is a point, for example : to become a classical concertist. This is a mistake, for after having reached that goal, you will be will-less. This example is included in the recommendation "no lust of result". A will is not a result.
Rather look for a will whose objective is a direction, for example : to spend your life in front of an instrument. To be a concertist is then a possible tool to live through that will. This is included in : To become is to be ; to be includes movement, direction, not statis.
Also think of To be is to become, as the best way to become something, is to be it in the present, until it becomes one's nature. Be what you will to be, right now.
1. Just be, and glide passively towards it.what methods are there so that we can test it?
